Well we finally finished all of our herding test and as you can guess Singer did very well. Saturday we entered our first trial and had to be scored against others. This was an AKC Herding Trial and Singer was entered in the Started A Course. We are proud to say that on his first trial Singer was the top dog and blue ribbon winner in his class with a score of 93.5 out of 100. This alone was amazing as it was a class of 17 dogs. The honors kept coming as Singer also won Reserve High in Trial. The top two dogs of the competition are recognized for thier excellent work. The high in trial went to a Border Collie from the intermediate class with a score of 94. Singer just missed being the best dog at the trial by half a point. Considering he was only half a point out, that over 35 dogs were in the trial and that the majority of the dogs were Border Collies I’d have to say we did a great job. I am so proud of Singer and how well he is coming along. To have done so well at his first trial is amazing. The judge was very impressed with his ability to work and control the stock. He noted what a good team we were and said this was a dog to watch in the future. Attached is a photo of us with the judge.

Outstanding job, Rich! Congratulations to you and Singer for showing those Border Collies how it should be done. I am sure when Momma Funny reads this she will be grinning from ear to ear.
Funny is smiling ear-to-ear, she is sooooo proud of her last puppy.
Carole,
Not one comment on how good we look!!!! Singer’s going to be sooo….. upset.
Rich, that goes without saying! Besides, your wife is going to be after me for always raving over her most-handsome man & son. 😉 Tell Singer not to cry, he is still one of my faves!
LOLOL You are too funny Rich!
Congratulations Rich and Janis! To go Reserve High-in-Trial at your first competition and only .5 point below the High-in-Trial dog…WOW. Super, super!!!!
Congratulations Rich!! I swear someday I will go out and watch you work.
Rita, myself, (and anyone else that would make like a snowbird) are going to San Diego to train with Rich this coming Winter. So we can have a break from the cold and satisfy our cravings for real-good Mexican food.
Don’t just come and watch!!! Herding can be so much fun after a few margaritas.
Watch??? heck no…. we are each going to bring a dog, we are taking lessons from you. Margaritas…..LOVE them!
You know it, Julie..Congrats to Singer!! Roman is working hard at his herding lessons and hopes to be as good as Singer someday.
Keep working and you’ll be better.
@LARHAGE
Don’t just come and watch!!! You’d be amazed at how well you can herd after a few margaritas.
I can do just about anything after a few Margaritas!!!! 🙂
Did I hear Margaritas? Sign me up!
Margaritas? I knew I liked this bunch.
Congratulations. It is clear you and Singer enjoy working together. Sade says cousin (or Uncle?) Singer is handsome.
