The winner of the World universal Sieger competition, Austria, Erin O’Shea and her dog Zambo vom Riedschlurgi:
Very cool to have the winner from the USA! So proud of you Erin!!! Since, I know you are all thinking it, yes, there will be Zambo puppies in the future here at Alta-Tollhaus. 🙂
Back home, the plan since last October was to trial Kira for her schutzhund 3 at the Capital Area Schutzhund club trial this past weekend. However, at the beginning of the month Kira’s foot got cut and infected and she has been on total crate rest all month and obviously, NO training at all. Schutzhund is a triathlon and something you really need to train, train, train, and train some more for. So getting her schutzhund 3 was out for the June trial. Except Saturday night, sitting around the bonfire, we decided what the heck. Kira was still a little tender footed on her hurt rear foot but not limping. At the worst it would be good practice for us to see what we needed to work on, at best she might actually get her schutzhund 3. Her obedience and protection was solid, her tracking really needed more work. Tracking was up first and she started off great then circled off the track, I think because of the spectators and Kira has issues with people…she thinks they are all in great need of meeting her and her them. Nice to have a social butterfly, but sometimes it hurts you. She lost a lot of points on this and a few more points for speeding up on 2 of the 5 legs. Her article indication was PERFECT! Score 85 out of 100! The next two events, Obedience and Protection are solid phases, and I was not worried about them…. well…. lets just say maybe I should have been, they were not the prettiest. But the up side is Kira passed both phases and is now V Quellie vom Kirschental SchH3 KKL1a LBZ. Just a note to anyone reading this, I do not recommend doing a schutzhund trial with a dog that has been on crate rest for a month, and therefore out of shape, and has had no training in the last 30 days. 🙂
Kira is now retired from schutzhund and will go on to play in obedience, rally, and agility.
Other brags, Alta-Tollhaus Billie who is A-stamp normal hips and elbows is now OFA good hips and OFA normal elbows. Alta-Tollhaus Dazzling Sabree also now OFA good hips and OFA normal elbows. I have some other brags too but I think I will put them in another post.
I knew she could do it!!! Yay Kira!!!
Also, I think Kira and Zambo would be a greaaat couple~ just sayin’.
Mmm oh yes def. Put me down for this litter.
We knew you could both do it! Around here training the human is the hard part.
Woo-hoo Erin and Zambo! AND a big Woo-hoo to Julie & Kira!
Zambo truly deserves the title of Universal Sieger and Erin has done a fabulous job! Zambo is a very cool dog.
Julie, Kira deserves that SchH3 title, and I’m very proud of you for doing it yourself. All of your hard work and dedication has paid off. Hugs to you both. 85 points for tracking after visiting with the crowd seems like a very good deal. I’d rather have a dog any day who is a social butterfly than one who runs at the sight of people. Kayla says, “Way to go, Moms!”
So are we going to send Kayla for a visit to Zambo in the future???
I’m not sure how you snagged that photo of Erin, but I’d better see it in my mailbox shortly. 😉
Great picture of the World Universal Sieger competition winners. Congratulations to Erin and Zambo. How closely related are Zambo and Ratz? I see they have the same kennel name.
A BIG Congratulations to Julie and Kira too. Wow…SchH 3…way to go!!
Can’t wait to hear your other brags….
Sydney sends big high fives to her mom…Way to go Julie and Kira!!!!!
Great going with Kira. She came thru even with the boo boo on her foot.
