Congratulations on your new puppy. Where is Huck living? It looks beautiful and he sure has plenty of room to run…and go tracking. Wish we had fields like that!
Have you heard the expression “lucky dog”? Well it fits, absolutely beautiful. Corita said there is a lake too?

Huck’s new home is a horse farm in Charlottesville, Virginia – and yep there’s a lake just to the left of that old converted barn in the last photo – it’s being blocked by all the high grass. the one upside of so much rain – Huck now has mazes of hay to explore!
Yesterday he lost himself in an old fence post hole – just his little tail was sticking out – I was only about 15 feet away but one of the big goldens had pulled him out before I could get there. Brotherly teamwork : )
Anyone in the Alta-Tolhaus family is more than welcome anytime. Just let us know if you’re ever down that way. Julie maybe you could bring a few dogs for a field-trip tracking week! I think it’s just 10 hours : )
OMG—Julie should have warned you to NEVER say anything like that on this blog. Look out your window. See that cloud of dust heading your way? It is the A-T wagon train. We are almost there!
Now about that Nanny position. I also have experience with horses!
OMG Carole, Great Minds Think Alike!!! I was going to say..Did you read the fine print on the AT family using your field for tracking any time? LOL
What a beautiful place to live!!!
I can see his little tail just wagging like crazy! One of the many situations he will get himself into probably LOL. What a great, Big Brother.
Carole – we welcome that AT train with open arms! I would say Huck could ALWAYS use a nanny but our momma-bear golden, Birdie might get jealous! she’s already taken him as her own! What’s your background with horses?? We mostly have ex-racehorses that we’ve saved off the track and give a new start in life. Usually as jumpers/eventers.
Julie we’d love to have you in the Fall – can’t wait! And Lynda anytime too. You all could just take over the lake house (that barn in the photo)…It has a ton of room, looks out on the water, and has fire-pits out back. Huck and I already spent a night down there roasting marshmallows and chasing deer : )
Equine Science from Meredith Manor in WV. Trained professionally for a number of years, some Quarter Horses, but mostly Arabs. Also birthed plenty of babies for UC Steel (Standardbred race horses) and Hellman Acres (Thoroughbred race farm in Ocala).
and through all of that I’ve always had German Shepherds.

Matt and I are glad you made it home safely. Huck had such a long journey compared to Zeta, but what an awesome journey’s end!!!! Good luck with the handsome Hunk, correction Huck!!

NO kidding Lynda. Tracking heaven!
What a wonderful new home for Huck! It looks like he’ll have a lot of fun!
Does Huck need a Nanny??? 😉
How about a big brother? Raj says that looks like his kind of country.
