Raccoon babies are adorable. Where did you rescue them from? Were they in your chimney? Are they going to rehab or do you know where the mother is?
Enquiring minds need to know all the details!!!!

I can see that AL will do anything to be a mother. Al, put those babies back—we already had the R litter! I’m with Lynda. We need the rest of the story.
Al delivered a trailer to a company and while unloading it, there was a Raccoon in it. He and another guy finally had her cornered and Al held a big piece of cardboard in front of him and let the other guy get out of the trailer and then he kind of shuffled the raccoon out. She did not want to go!!! But finally she ran out and into the woods. Thaat was last week Thursday I think.
Tuesday he went back to the same company and they told him why the Racoon didn’t want to leave they found 5 new born babies in a tote of auto parts. They had put them into the woods, hoping momma would come back. They showed Al where they were, and he couldn’t believe they were still alive (barely) 2 were very very week, and the other 3 were a little bit stronger but not much. Momma hadn’t came back.
They guys there were saying lert the hawks get them. Well Al called me and I said bring them back with you in a box and I will find somewhere for them to go. So I went and met him with some Pedialite and an eye dropper. Their tongues were almost white and shriveled up. So I gave each of them a little bit of it and then brought them home, and gave them some more. I was really surprised they responded so fast to the Pedialite.
When Al got home we took them out to nature place that does rehab with them and eventually when they are ready will release them back into the wild.

This place takes in I think she said 1500 to 17oo animals a yr. and work strictly on donations.
They showed us pictures of how they set up like a classroom with an adult Raccoon and put cray fish in a pool and the adult teaches them how to catch their food and different things.
In the wild they stay with their mom til about 1 1/2 yrs of age. But these will be released at 6 months of age, if they are ready. Still hoping they all make it, will check next week and see.
I have to say I was very proud of David, he never once tried to touch them, because I told him he couldn’t. But he helped me with everything else, such as putting the towels down, and making sure not to open the doors and let the dogs out. And he learned that baby racoons are called Kits.
What is their website, maybe someone would like to send them a donation?

UPDATE:: AL called the lady and they are ALL doing great and have a Long Life ahead of them!!!! YEAHHHH
There is no doubt in my mind they would not have made it through another night out there. He got to them just in time!

That’s fabulous Karen – you guys did the right thing. Did you know about this rehab place before?
No we didn’t, I called my vets office, and they gave me the number.

This is a wonderful story. Like I said—AL is a great little mother! I’m happy to hear that all has worked out for the little kits. Just don’t send them to my house. Me and raccoons are like Julie and deer.
David is a good kid with fantastic parents.

Not to torment Al any more—but
Check out those photos. Little baby blankies on the floor. Al in his whelping position. The only thing that is missing is his baby pool. I bet he really wanted one! Julie, you are a great mentor. Look how well Al has learned this baby process. 😉
They have a page on facebook with a few pictures.

Hours I just got off the phone with her and she did state to me that things are very tight right now for them. I use to do Dog and cat adoptions and I know how expensive it is.
What a great story. Thank goodness Al went back to the same place and saved the kits. They would have not lasted much longer I’m sure.
Well done Al, Karen and David.
It is nice to be part of a group with so many people who love and care for all animals the way we do.
They are so cute. I am glad you and Al were able to rescue them.

Carole, Carole, Carole, I think you were put on Earth to torment Al. 🙂
LOL! I’m glad he chose someone that could get the job done!! HEHEHEHE
Does this mean my “S” litter teal girl will need to send Al a Mother’s day card next year????
I love Al!

WOW! Their cute! When I was 5 I had a racoon give birth in my room under my bed when we were on vacation.. Came home to racoons in my room.
why am I not surprised?? You probably lured the momma raccoon into your room and set up a pet and fed her.
Oh no! Not a racoon.. Those things scare me!
