From my own experience, I like the martingale collars rather then the flat buckle because it the prevents the “dog backing out of the collar” situation.
I use them for the reason that Monica stated. My favorite brand is the White Pine because they are covered with a soft silk like material that does not break the coat like nylon.
Not it you have the correct size and have them adjusted properly. My dogs start wearing them when the come to my house and have been wearing them now for 8 years. I also get my students to use them.
Julie has a modification made to her martingale collars so that the collar can be snapped on, rather than just slipped over the head. It makes for the perfect collar!
