Carole was very amused by this and thought I should share it since he was doing it earlier than dogs usually do (this is my first dog, so I didnt know that till she told me) — only on a dog blog would this be appropriate…… Grizzly started lifting his leg to pee about a week after I got him (week 10)…his balance wasnt great at first, he would switch legs mid stream, and made a mess on the back of his front legs for a few weeks, but now he is a pro….
His ear is finally coming up!!
Another view…..
After 3 beach trips, he finally tackled the waves—he loves it….
That is so funny, Odin was doing the same thing on Saturday- I thought it was so odd! Zeus didn’t lift his leg up till 8 months old!
Poor guy can’t even potty in private. Although come to think of it I am not allowed in the bathroom by myself w/out an audience either. Our guests really love it when they close the door and have to listen to all of the snorting under the door and whining. He really is growing fast.
Grizzly is THE Man! You made my day—how many gallons did you force him to drink until you were able to capture those shots? 🙂
I just love his dark eyes. He looks like he is having a great time with the waves—actually you BOTH look like you are having a great time.
That is DAMN impressive! Roman was almost a year before he lifted. He’s 2 now and still squats every now and again. Go Grizzly!!
It must be a Q litter thing !
Good boy Grizzly!
I’m with Carole…love those eyes!
Lordy, lordy he is an early developer. But looking at the last picture the movie 10 and Bo Derek came to mind, she has GSD also. Only this is the female version of Bo Derek in 10…. a hunky man and his dog running through the waves, uh huh, very nice.
JULIE—for gosh’s sake! I’ve got to see this guy once a week—do NOT give him a bigger head. He already puffs up when he and his son are strutting their stuff. And now you’ve told him that he’s a hunky man running through the waves with his dog. Poor Grizzly will be water logged. John, get out of the damn ocean! 😉
Ha!!! Sorry, I didnt answer sooner–I’ve been down on the beach for the last 5 hours with Grizzly running through the ocean hoping people would be watching us–hair is already braided and I had the theme from Baywatch playing as we ran around…
Wow what a mature boy! Niro tinkled on his front legs for months before he realized he needed to stretch his front legs out a little further if he wasn’t going to lift his leg. He still stands on all fours (doesn’t squat though) in his own yard and only really lifts his leg on walks away from his comfort zone. Must be a macho thing – can’t possibly be seen out and about tinkling with all four paws on the ground at 28 months!
You really should send the second photograph of Grizzly with the Kong Wubba into Kong so they can put it on their “Virtual Wall of Fame”. Log on to the kongcompany.com website and click on the upload picture icon. You should also sign up for their newsletter for a chance to win a basket of Kong toys whilst your at it. Good Luck!
I am not going to braid my hair Julie!
I was thinking more along the lines of rastafarian dreads.
After class on Saturday, Michelle & I can give John dreads—and then I have the perfect hat to super glue to his head!
You would need ketamine to hold me down long enough to do that!
John says: “You would need ketamine to hold me down long enough to do that!”
Careful—you never know how resourceful one can be!
Thanks for the tip! – I will do it right now…
