Alta-Tollhaus Gavin is here visiting. i decided we would go play at some UKC shows in Kalamazoo. Gavin completed the requirements for his UKC Championship un-defeated! Gavin is big goofy male and the judges were humored by his silliness. A few times around the ring he carried his own lead. We also showed Alta-Tollhaus Cadence and she also earned her UKC championship. While hanging out the weight pulling competition caught Gavin’s attention and he said he wanted to do it. We borrowed a weight-pull harness from someone and gave it a try. Gavin earned his first lef toward a Novice Weight Pulling title. He pulled 592 pounds on his first try, it took him about two seconds. It happened so quickly all our friends missed it! Gavin wanted to keep going he loved it. Gavin and Monica hanging out at the show:
His tongue really is not white, just funky light in this building:
Since we didn’t get a picture of Gavin pulling we took a picture of another dog pulling so you could get an idea. The cart alone weighs 400 pounds and the concrete blocks each weigh 32 pounds. For the novice pull title they have to pull 8 x their body weight 3 times. I don’t know if Gavin had ever been in any kind of harness before but he didn’t mind this full body harness at all.
Woo-hoo— CH Gavin & CH Cadence!!!
Congratulations Lorie—I knew your boy would have fun!
So how much weight did Lucy-Lynn pull? 😉
Lucy is under a year of age so she can’t pull yet….officially.
Yeah, I was just giving Monica a hard time.
Congrats! Weight pulling sounds so interesting!
Stacy it was really fun. The weight people at this event were super nice. I did not have a clue on what to do they walked me through it and someone let Gavin use their dog’s weight pull harness. Obviously we didn’t do any training for this but you could on your own. You could use any kind of harness for practice and attach a heavy chain and have them them move toward you. Ironically this is also what some people do to train their dogs for the show ring, teaching them to pull forward, and to use their rear.

Congratulations! Of course, we were expecting that from Gavin, who was doing great things at three months. And Cadence was always lovely, but it is nice to have a judge appreciate it.
Wow! Nice job! It looks like it was worth getting up in the wee hours of the morning.
Great to see pictures of Gavin…..finally -LOL!
What a handsome boy.
Congratulations to all.
LOLOL Why Lynda, you are starting to sound like Carole! Good! I need people to keep me on track!
So where are his stacked shots???
Lorie, add another person to the list of people wanting to buy your Gavin.
Now who?????? I assume you are back now Julie? How did my boy do with you leaving him? I hope he doesn’t develop a complex of abandonment. 🙁
Who wants him? Everyone! It is as if he knows what he is doing there and he ready to rock n roll.
Thats great to hear Julie, so exciting for him, I think about that boy at least 100 times a day, I better get a German Language book. How do you say Hi Handsome in German? 🙂
