Mr. Lance and I went to Chicago and entered the Lincolnwood Training Club Inc., for GSDs (they had a combined TD and TDX test).
Mr. Lance wants to let you know that he is now a “TDX” boy. Here’s our picture for you viewing pleasure – I’m smiling still.
Judges were Pam German and Donna Kircher, and track layer Kirsten. Our maps show the “boy” booked this track and did it in 14 minutes – whew, he was a gooooood boy (no wonder my legs were tired).
Wanted to share.
Laura and TDX Lance
Congratulations Laura and Lance! OK this is what I have for for Lance, tell me what I am missing:
U-CH, U-AgII U-RO1, Alta-Tollhaus Par Four (Lance),TDX, TD, AX, AXJ, NAP, NJP, OF, RA, CTL1, CL2, NAC, NCC, TN-N, TG-N, WV-N, CSL1-F, CSL1-H, CSL1-S, RS-N, JS-N, GS-N, mHIC, OFA Hips (Normal) + Elbows (Excellent).
Congratulation!! 🙂
Wow, that is fantastic! Way to Go Laura and Lance.
Congratulations! TDX requires more hard work than many people realize. Now, how about a little pressure? Lance should become the first Alta-Tollhaus CT!
Ann, that is one of Laurie’s goals that she set when Lance was just a wee one. All her tracking training has been geared toward obtaining the Champion Tracking title.
Yup – Ann and Julie – one of our goals is to go for the AKC CT and we’ve
added the Canadian titles as goals too..but we will just keep plodding along
as long as we continue to have fun.
Congratulations! My legs hurt just thinking about a TDX in 14 minutes.
And Blue is seriously proud of her nephew…
Yup – 14 minutes was a bookin and I just “hung” on to that line.
Way to go, Laura & Lance! There are so many initials in his official name that it looks like Julie was typing in code!
Cool huh?
I need some perspective, what are the requirements for the TDX?
Requirements for both TD and TDX are as follows:
TD – aged 30 minutes to 2 hours, TDX – aged 3 -5 hours.
TD- has 3-5 turns, TDX has 5-7 turns.
TD – 440-500 yards, TDX 800-1000 yards.
TD – has 2 articles (start and end-usually a glove or wallet), TDX has 4 articles (start, two in somewhere on the track and end-usually gloves, socks, wallet, scarfs, headbands).
TD – usually has no changes of cover, but can cross a grass path, sidewalks or jogging paths, TDX-can be most anything – various terrain, gullies, plowed land, woods, vegetation, streams, fences, bridges, lightly traveled roads, etc.
TD -has two flags, one at the start and one 30 yds later in the direction of the track. TDX has 1 flag and your dog gets to figure out where the track goes.
And, VST (Variable Surface Track) another of the AKC has more/different requirements and is the last component to become an AKC CT (Champion Tracker).
Hope this helps.
Laura, if anyone can do this—it is you and Lance!
Wishing the best to the future Champion Tracker.
Thanks Carole – we are just going to give it an honest try and see what happens.
Congratulations! How does this compare to the TD?
See above, I outlined some of the differences/requirements between TD and TDX (not all inclusive)
Congrats Lance and Laura! That’s a big deal! Are you going to do Schutzhund and/or SDA tracking titles? You should! Lance’s mom Chopper is an absolute natural at Schutzhund style tracking.
No – won’t be working on anything Schutzhund with Lance. We’ve got our plate full working on tracking, obedience, agility, and rally in the 6 venues and 2 countries, for which we’ve set our goals. I’m no spring chicken and still work full time so this is plenty on my plate. Enjoy it with Chopper.
@Julie
Julie – (just figured out how to “reply” – so here goes:
Here’s Lance new “title” string – missing his Canadian titles and a CPE and his RE.
U-CH, U-AgII U-RO1 Alta-Tollhaus Par Four (Lance) TDX, AM/CAN TD, AX, AXJ, NAP, NJP, OF, RE,
CKC-RN, CTL1, CL2, CL3-F, NAC, NCC, TN-N, TG-N, WV-N, CSL1-F, CSL1-H, CSL1-S, RS-N, JS-N, GS-N, mHIC, OFA Hips (Normal) + Elbows (Excellent)
Wowser!
Ditto!! That is absolutely amazing!
Congratulations! We are in awe. At this point, even our TD seems so far away…..your accomplishment with Lance inspires us!
Thanks – but you can do it. Just time and mileage as my teacher tells me, time and mileage!
