Raj (his other name: my husband named him Rajah) has already seen the world–a road trip to NASS followed by airline adventures and then another long road trip. He is now having to settle for local explorations, his upcoming puppy class, and sharpening his teeth on anything and anyone within reach.
Dull reality after all those expeditions probably explains his indignation about any moments of inactivity. Raj and Uncle Rafe did entertain themselves for a bit by checking out yesterday’s scent pad, just in case any crumbs might have escaped attention 24 hours earlier.
I am counting on all of you to scream when you want a break from Raj updates. Promise? You had better, or he will bring the shark attack to your house.
Never too many updates! You are already doing scent pads? Between you and Richard I am starting to feel inadequate!
Just food on the ground–no big deal. It was a nice day and he needed to do something out there besides chase leaves.
Keep the updates coming! Julie will need to change your category to Life with Rafe, Mack and O-Raj! Since you have Raj working on scent pads already, I’m sure that by next week he’ll be at the end of a 30′ line. I see an FH dog in the works! 😉
Jack and I (and Ivan) met Raj at NASS. We even had him snuggling in our car with us when we were taking a break for all the excitement of the show. He’s a cute boy.
Now tell me about these “scent pads”…?? I want to learn all about tracking.
Hi, Lynda! I knew somebody had been socializing Raj, and I am so glad that he met Ivan–he needs the right role models. The funny thing at the moment is that he does not recognize any dog other than a GSD as a dog. Re the scent pads, I don’t know what I am doing, but I want him to start associating tracking flags with putting that nose down and looking. So I stamp an area, put the flag in, and then put his lunch on my “pad.” I think he noticed the flag once, in terms of thinking about chewing it–since then, he sees it and heads for the ground around it. Probably all we have to remember is that dogs can do a lot more than we think they can if we only let them do it.
I also put Via’s tracking harness on her when we do scent pads. I’ve a little puppy one.
Confession time… I had him with me a few times also in the car, in fact one day I said to Monica let Julie know that if he isn’t in the expen when you come back then I took him back to the hotel with me. LOL But I ddn’t take him back, we all left at the same time.
He did bloody my lip with those nails though, he caught me just right. He is a nice little guy and handsome and fun, once in awhile someone would come over and play with him if they were walking by, who can resist a puppy!
Enjoy your new boy!
Thank you too for spending time with him! I had my lip experience too last week, and went to work pretending that mark wasn’t there. His nails have since been cut. He apparently is having a wonderful time at daycare: came home yesterday with a note in his little bag reporting that he “wrestled with a puppy named Maggie.” I hope she bit him back.
That is funny that your boy comes home with “notes.” Someone needs to bite him back—I think Mac and Rafe are too polite to do the job.
