Nuke is now 12 weeks old and weighs 26 pounds. He’s great with new places, loud and unusual sounds, vehicles, surface textures, old people, children, joggers, and bicycles. The only things we still need to work on are dogs, cats, wildlife, and skater boys. Yes, I noticed the other day he is very apprehensive about skateboarders. Lucky for us, we have a skate park here in town, so that’s how we celebrated his three month birthday.
Mountains o’ photos inside…
When we first reached the skate park, Nuke was feeling insecure and ran and hid underneath my legs.
Gradually he emerged and started taking an interest in what was going on at the park. It helped that some skaters got off their boards and let him check them out.
After he calmed down and seemed to accept the existence of skateboarders, we headed down to the river. He LOVES the river. As soon as he sees it he starts barking and then runs in and tries to bite the water. it’s hilarious. And it reminds me of “attacking the darkness.”
That’s how he got so filthy that a bath was required as soon as we got home. See?
We dried out for awhile in the sun and then headed back to the skate park.
His skater buddy from earlier brought his girlfriend over for an introduction.
He was so worn out that as soon as I put him in the truck he laid his chin on the center console and was asleep 5 seconds later. 🙂 He’s still not completely confident about skateboarders, so we’ll keep going back every few days until he’s fine with them. He starts his first puppy class on October 19!

Nuke is so HANDSOME! I love the pictures of Nuke playing in the River…that’s how I play in the water. Stacy, you are doing such a wonderful job. Thank you, O’Stara
What great pictures and story. I love the first picture of handsome Nuke.
In the river shots he is jumping out of the water like a dolphin…. like Ivan did as a youngster!
Glad you said Nuke is the most photographed dog in the “Pacific Northwest” because Ivan is in the Northeast!!
LOL
Are you sure you are in law-enforcement? I think you are really a professional photographer for maybe Time, Life, or National Geo….
Stacy your great sense of humor and your fun personality comes through in every picture.
@Julie
I agree! I wish you lived closer.
