Hi Julie, I had to share a brag with you. I was contacted by a very nice breeder from out here who inquired what I was doing with Gavin, I told her I was going to probably send him for full time training with the Schutzhund Club trainer I train with, she had a friend interested in him, I said he was positively not for sale and she than told me to take him to a different Schutzhund trainer that she said would do more for me and Gavin, she convinced me to have him evaluated by the man and see what he thought. I went last night and there were 3 other dogs to be evaluated, after hearing how wonderful the ” working line” dogs were, I sat through the embarassment of the other 2 showline prospects failing to engage or attack the rag, than Gavins turn, the guy barely set foot on the course when Gavin leapt into the air and grabbed the tug, he almost knocked him down, the man than used the stick to challenge Gavin who again launched at the tug, grabbing it and holding on, the trainer than proclaimed, ” see, they do exist, a good showline dog with drive, not only did this puppy pass his audition, but I WANT him, he is one gorgeous dog with a great natural drive, this is a super nice dog, he just has it, some do and some don’t. I was so proud my chest was stuck out, everyone clapped when Gavin proudly pranced off the course with his tug!! I was so proud of him, all the members came up to pet him and asked his pedigree and where he was from, considering we hadn’t trained in at least a month since my Mothers illness he was great, he is so cool because he chills in his crate without a peep, than comes on the field like a lion!!!
