Nuke is 10 weeks and 1 day old today (I think I counted wrong last week). I weighed him unscientifically on our bathroom scale and he’s now at 20 pounds. He was 14 pounds at 8 weeks so he’s definitely growing!
It is a PERFECT fall day today – about 50 degrees out (an expected high of 83 but I’ll believe it when I see it). It was also the day of the HOMECOMING parade!!!! I knew this would mean lots of people, kids, traffic, and scary floats, so it was a good opportunity to expose Nuke to lots of new stuff. I didn’t take him to the parade itself because I thought that might be overload, but instead we waited along the exit route so we got passed by everyone leaving the event. He has gotten to where he LOVES children and pulls at the leash wanting to go to them. Luckily many passed by and stopped for pets.
We encountered a few friendly dogs (on leash) and kept our distance, but he’s getting less apprehensive about them, too. You know he’s tired when he doesn’t even bother to give a token whine in his crate, but instead immediately passes out. 🙂
A passing bus full of singing children with balloons had no effect on his composure.
In the accidental semi-stack picture, he looks a lot like O’Stara to me.
I brushed him last night (he hasn’t really needed it, we do it more to acclimate him to it) and found a dime-sized patch of black fur in the brush! I showed it to John.
Me: Awww, he’s losing his puppy fur and growing up!!!
Husband: [*snuggles puppy*] Soon we’ll have to talk about girls!
HA. Here’s yesterday’s daily puppy pictures.
Those ears are coming up! He won’t be a baby much longer, so enjoy every minute.
Good job socialization. I like how thoughtful you are about the process, i.e. recognizing a certain situation could be too over whelming. Keep up the good work and keep these wonderful pictures coming!
Good work, Stacy. Nuke will be a very well-rounded puppy. I love the second photo where he is just taking in the scene.
