From the xray department:
Today Mos and Tiffany xrayed Halley, the last of the H-litter (Heike, Havana, Honey, and Halley) to be xrayed. The entire litter of 4 puppies from the Zamp v. Thermodos – Maikali v. Kirschental breeding have had preliminary xrays. All have closed elbows and and good to excellent hip joint conformation. Yeah!
Congratulations to Chris and Rita on Roman’s excellent radiograph results. Xrays to be going to Germany for the A-Stamp.
One more x-ray piece of news Maika was xrayed and 7 little X-box skulls were counted!
Affiliation Trail – Working Dog club of Michigan:
Becky & Schumi, Lies & Nikon, and Michelle & Brady all did a “mock” BH at the Working Dog Club of Michigan affiliation trial this past Sunday. I was so proud of all of them, dogs and handlers! You guys rocked! I have only posted two pix of Michelle so far, but there will be many more. Between me, Lies, Al, and Carole 100’s of pictures were taken. So stayed tuned for more photos.
Charlie Starr is our Regional Director and the judge for our affiliation trial. Chrlie did a mini handling-showmanship clinic for us which was really informative. Charlie also brought X-Box along with him and as a result X-box and Funny had one last fling. If she is pregnant she have this litter and then be spayed and if not successful she will not be bred again and be spayed. 🙁
Brag:
Congratulations to Michelle and Brady on passing their AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test.
Goodbyes:
There have been many goodbyes and tears shed. Our dear friend Lisa said goodbye to her 12 year old Rosie. Tiffany said goodbye to Omar and Octavia, the end of our American-lines. Terri released Mynee from her battle with cancer. Godspeed to your new life at the rainbow bridge.
The idea of a passel of little puppy skull x-rays make me go eeee!!!!! 🙂 It *sounds* cute. It’s even funnier when you think about gamer geeks – in World of Warcraft, the “skull” is a commonly used raid icon.
I will never forget that afternoon with Rosie and her tennis ball–poor John did not have a choice about playing. As for Omar, all I can do is thank him again for giving us Rafe the Beautiful Dog.
Stacy – Counting skulls does sound a bit bizarre but that is the only way to get an accurate count. All the other body parts just look like a jumbled assortment of body parts. 🙂 I will take a picture of an xray and post it.
Ann – It was so sad to say goodbye to Omar. He was very near death already as Tif was having a hard time letting him go.
I meant “eeeeee!!!” as an expression for something completely cute. Like on http://dailysquee.com/ 🙂 A picture would make it even better!!
Julie and Tiffany, I know–saying goodbye never gets any easier, even if we think it should. The only comfort is knowing that eventually we will get them all back. I can visualize the scene now: the entire pack running to meet me, and every single one of them will be screaming “Me! Me! Me first!!!”
Ann, I had tears in my eyes after I read your last sentence–you put that so well. I was visiting with my much-loved 82-year-old Dad’s today, (also a dog lover!) and he read me this quote by author Margery Facklam: “We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare, and love we can spare. In return, dogs give us their all. It’s the best deal man has ever made.”
Jil, love the quote your Dad found.
@Keith
I do, too, Keith. It’s now one of my favorite quotes.
