Hi Alta-Tollhaus family!ย Just a quick update about Rudi and his SAR training.ย He is doing fabulous!ย Today was wonderful as he tracked his first long, 200 yds., track which was crossed.ย He made the correct choice when he had to and found his victim.ย There were a pair of sandhill cranes making a good deal of noise and he didn’t even turn to see what all the fuss was about.ย They are about 3 or 4 feet high from what I can tell.ย I really wasn’t wathcing them as I’m still learning to read a tracking dog.ย Rudi is really loving his play/work.
Julie, again…thank you so much for our RUDI!!!
What a great day for you and Rudi. Congrats!!!!!!
@Margot, Thanks, it was an exciting day! JH ๐
Julie, great job to you and Mr. Rudi! You are performing a great service.
@Carole, I’d like to think we are, thanks!
SAR is exciting and Rudi absolutely LOVES training. Wish we lived closer, I’d beg you to be a victim so we could train more than once a week. Regardless, all the extra scent boxes and little tracks I laid throughout the summer has really paid off. He knows his commands and what it is exactly that I expect of him…find the person at the end of the track from the scent article presented at the beginning. I was a bit concerned yesterday with the crossed track AND introducing him to a longer track at the same time. I completely trust our director and she was correct. Rudi knows what he’s doing. So now, time and patience is the key. JH ๐
Wow, great update! Sounds like Rudi is doing wonderfully.
Julie H Thank YOU for working your dog! Rudi thanks you too, I believe tracking is one of the dog’s favorite things to do. Good job and a pat on the back to both of you!
@Julie, Thanks Julie ๐
Great job Rudi and Julie H!!!! That’s nice to know how well he is doing! But of course we could have expected that from such a great and handsome dog!
@Becky Perry, I’ve heard Rudi has an equally handsome, very hard working twin out there. ๐ Hope Joe is home and doing well. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers. JH ๐
