Here are some photos taken at Fisherman’s Island State Park. The one of Niro which looks a little hazy is actually camp fire smoke which doesn’t seem to be bothering him at all. Obviously these two love to camp – such a shame it will be the last time this year 🙁
Great pictures, it looks like you had a great time!
@Shane & Jaime, Thanks – we did! I love the back to nature feel when we go camping. The dogs love it too because they never get yelled at for rolling in the dirt!
Very nice pictures, we have never been to this Park but we may need to take a closer look at it for next yr. Love the photo of the sunset!
@Al & Karen, If you like to camp you’ll love it. Very peaceful and just perfect if you get a site on the edge of the lake. It’s a rustic camp site so if you don’t mind pit toilets and no showers, you’ll have a blast. We always take the bladder type shower which is black on one side and clear on the other. Just pop it in your vehicle window and by evening, hey presto, you have enough hot water for a shower. Of course you could always cheat and just heat some water over the camp fire and pour it in!
It looks like everyone had a wonderful time. I feel your melancholy as you write this will be your last camping trip for the season. This has been the most beautiful Michigan Summer – at least for me. I wish it could go on so I could do all the things I planned to do but didn’t get around to doing. Another sure sign that Summer is ending is the return of MSU students to the East Lansing campus. On the plus side I was gone for “move-in” day. Couldn’t be happier about missing that!
@Julie, We had a great time. As I mentioned above, I love the rustic camp site at Fisherman’s Island. Eveyone there is so respectful of other campers’ privacy and the sites are quite large yet secluded from one another – at least the ones on the lakeside are.
We loved this summer too – not too hot so you could get out and enjoy it. I hate it when it is stifling hot, I have no energy for anything. Being a Brit, I’m used to the rain so it didn’t bother me at all.
Do you teach at MSU? I don’t know how you find the time for everything you are involved with – you certainly have more stamina than I!!
Ditto on all of the above comments! What a great camping trip—with gorgeous photos!
