Working Dog Club of Michigan, young dogs working protection with Training Director Ron Stokes. Nick Dillman doing the helper work on Enno. Yes, it is the middle of August and we are inside…we are not stupid….air-conditioning or 90+ degrees and 100% humidity
“Young guns”, is right! The intensity in such young dogs is impressive and the handling is also top notch. Congrats to everyone involved on developing such an outstanding training club. Way to go!!
@Margot, Thank you Margot. I am so proud of this group; their dedication, enthusiasm, and talent is outstanding!
Wow- you guys are looking awesome! it looks like that protection work is quite a workout for all concerned. I don’t blame you for being in the AC.
I am particularly impressed by Schumi and Becky. you guys are really coming along great!
@ckwigles, Thanks Charlene! Schumi is working on control and power right now. For a lot of this session we worked on the bark and hold – he is learning he can’t just bite the sleeve whenever he wants! When he shows enough power and confidence, he gets a bite.
@ckwigles, Charlene you said it. This is Becky’s first dog. She turned out to be a natural. Not only is she our club show handler she also is going to be very skilled at trialing. Ron has her handling his dog Caisson in the protection work. You should stop out again and see how much all of us have improved since you were last out.
Looking good, everyone! And I can understand staying inside….I wish I had a big training building too!
Very impressive! Exellent video. Everyone’s K9’s, and handlers, look top notch. I’m not that familar with the sport of Schutzhund but I think I’ve seen just enough to recognize great up and coming future talent. Kudos to all of you! Becky, Rudi and I are Schumi and your’s No.1 Fans!!! 🙂
Hmm…does make one wonder why in Michigan you can have AC, covered and proper (can’t say proper enough) training facilities but in Florida we just sweat our butts off. Of course, SAR work must be worked out side (occasionally inside) but really, most every place down here is outside. There’s an agility field near us but again…outside. JH 🙂
Even though I have seen these dogs work in person, I still can’t get over how well everyone is doing. It will be a very impressive day when these dogs and handlers go to their first trial and/or breed survey. Excellent job, Ron Stokes! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication!
