I am teased by other GSD people that I only sell my puppies to excellent photographers. This past weekend Bernard and his family made their first appearance at a show. Bernard’s camera gear was spotted and he was pegged as part of the Alta-Tollhaus gang. But now I am being excused of another stereotype!!! The GSD crowd is spreading the rumor that I only place my puppies with beautiful people. Can you believe it? OK, I am busted! It is true you are all beautiful, through and through…and that IS why I placed my puppies with you!
Michelle, Pat, Bernard, Elaine, Sara, Nick, and their puppies made their debut in the German style show ring this past Saturday. Back in Michigan we did a few sessions of ring training, but it does not come close preparing you for the real thing. It is nearly impossible to duplicate what goes on in a show….don’t you agree?
Congratulations to the new VP puppies:
The Angs & VP Jaeger (Digger – Maika)
Pat and Michelle & VP Brady (Digger – Maika)
Ron & 3x VP Caisson (Jimmy – Faye)
Lies and Phil & 3x VP Nikon (Markus – Kira)
Jaeger and Brady were in the 3 – 6 month class. Both pups were given the highest rating and many compliments were recieved on both boys.
Third time in the ring for Nikon and Caisson, 3rd time awarded VP rating. Both continue to show better each time in the ring. Maria continues to panic at the thought of Ron being at the show and having to show his dog! 🙂 The only dog not to do better then previously was my own dog Cadence. She was responding to all the other double handlers, or more specifically to their toys, as in big yellow balls on ropes. She was so charged up that we could never get her settled down. Of all the beautiful females in her class, Cadence was still the one I wanted to bring home with me. Back to training.
Cadence’s performance was quickly put out of mind when Caisson came in and performed beautifully in the 6 – 9 month class, being just over 6 months and competing against the big boys, and holding his own. Becky was at the lead and did a great job yelling at me! 🙂 Sounds bad but it was all good, we were gelling as a team. Nikon looked good and showed well, getting better each time out. This was the first time double handled by both Phil and Lies.
Maria handled Jaeger, Becky was on the lead for all the other pups. I am amazed at how quickly Becky is gaining handling skills. Becky looked like a pro. Remember she was shouting orders to me, this is a sure sign of a good handler!
Congratulations!
Augghh Cadence! I still don’t like thinking about that. SHE looked great; I think if I would have had more experience she would have done so much better! It just gives me motivation to do better with her next time around. Thanks for the kind words Julie. Congrats everyone!!
Becky, I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews! Just remember, when you are on the end of that lead, it is YOU who is in charge. Glad to hear you are giving orders to The Boss! She also knows to listen to her handler! Don’t let the Cadence thing bother you—next time it will be better. Before “next time” comes around, you will have done more work with her. That happens to every handler at one time or another!
If you want to get rid of the beautiful people stereotype, I can fix that for you real quick!! Unfortunately I can’t help you with the picture stereotype. After seeing all the awesome pictures from everyone I upgraded to a D60 and if I do good with that I plan on getting a D90. But seriously just hand me a nice little girl and that stereotype will be gone!!! 🙂
@Jennifer, Hey Jennifer, I don’t care what I look like as long as my dogs look great!
I was trying to say that everyone is beautiful where it counts most, from the inside.
