Thank you all so much for your kind words of sympathy.
My Mum and I were extremely close throughout, regardless of where I lived in the world. Basically she was my hero. Nobody could match her for the love she shared, her understanding, patience and caring nature and ultimately her strength.
Mum passed away two weeks before her 79th birthday and had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for over 25 years. Despite my Father dying 13 years ago, she had the sheer willpower to continue to live in her own home right up until the end. For the last three years she had to “allow” carers to help her four times a day, as she could no longer care for herself independently.
I spoke with her at least once everyday and visited her every 6 to 8 weeks. Having no siblings, and me living in the US and Mum being back home in England, made it a little tougher, but we made the best of it. I wished she could have lived in the States, but alas that was not meant to be.
I thought you guys might like to see some photos of Mum and her beloved Rex, taken and developed by my Father back in the 60s. I’d have to say I get my love of GSDs and photography from them!
Hi, Andrea,
What wonderful photos. Your mom was so beautiful and serene. What lovely eyes and smile. I am glad you have such a wonderful legacy of memories and inspiration from your “hero”. Take care, Andrea, and God bless you .
What a handsome boy Rex was, too!
Margot
Andrea,
It is so hard to find the words to express how I feel. It is wonderful how you share your parents love for GSD (Alsation) and for photography. With almost every picture a part of you is probably remembering your Father. Your Mum sounds like the best of mothers. Which probably makes her loss even harder to bear. What Margot said above is priceless and so true. Your Mum imprinted you with those same superlative qualities. Not only was your Mum a person of great character, she also is very beautiful and elegant. Thank you so much for sharing these priceless pictures. God’s peace.
Andrea,
Thank you for sharing such beautiful photos of your Mum and Rex. Margot & Julie said it all so eloquently. God bless you.
What lovely pictures. I am so glad you shared them with us. Please take care and know our thoughts are with you.
Thank you for the pictures, and a little background on your mum, she was a very beautiful person, and it sounds like she persevered through alot of things. Even though she was taken from you much too soon, you were blessed to have her as long as you did, and the memories you have are priceless and those will never fade. The photos sure do tell a story of where you got your love for the GSD.
How is D’Niro doing? we miss class with you guys.
Your in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you all for your beautiful comments, it means so much to me.
