We joyfully picked up our new Leader Dog this evening! He is an 8-week-old German Shepherd (“coated” ? which means he’ll have long hair in a few months). He will live with us and go wherever we go for the next year. When you meet him, feel free to “love him up”. We decided to keep up our Leader Dog tradition and name this puppy after a street name. The name we gave him is, Marlin. He was named after a street on a canal in Sunset Beach, NC. This favorite family vacation spot is dear to our hearts, we love to fish there. Also, I must mention, because Zach demands so, his middle name is Shadow. Enjoy the photo!

Marlin is one of the two long-coated boys from the Gorbi-Allie litter. I do not know if he is Aqua boy or Red boy.
Sandy from Leader Dog came to Marshall, meet Mom, Grandmom, half-sister, Dastra, and Onion. She too the two long coated boys back to Leader Dog for the Blind in Rochester Michigan. Once at Leader dog, they are given an exam and tested. If they pass they are placed into a foster home. The foster home raises them for one year. Their job is to teach them basic obedience, good manners, and to socialize them to as many things possible. After one year they are returned to Leader Dog where they are given a thorough physical exam and health screenings. Then they are assigned to a trainer and begin their serious work learning to become a Leader Dog for the blind.
Please feel free to add to this or make corrections.
Marlin is one adorable ball of fur! Hi, Sinutko family – I hope you will keep us updated on your very noble and loving endeavor. Thank you, Julie, for having such a generous and kind heart to donate these wonderful puppies to Leader Dog. Way to go, girl-friend!
