Bronson is a handsome boy. Tasha says it’s not fair that all her siblings have sticks to play with and she just has cactus.

I agree that is not fair, cacti would not be as much fun.

I think we can arrange for a package of sticks to be sent to AZ. They are after all one of the best chew/play toys.

How big a box of sticks do you want?

Send Bronson your address and I will have him send Tasha some ORGANIC sticks! We have almost 2 acres of blueberries that are 63 years old (still producing) so our “sticks” are loaded with antioxidants. The other 2 acres is a flat running yard, some people would call it a pasture, but with too many to count Goldens, a dangerous Chihuahua named Trypod – it’s a dog running yard.

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys, we are very happy that Bronson did not have enough drive for Judy and Mark, though my husband George can barely walk across the floor in the morning without being bitten, scolded and herded…. I think the real reason Judy and Mark gave us Bronson is that he needed a bath! Oh my let me tell you about the bath thing, one would have thought we were dunking him in boiling water or something. Can you say we got another GSD from Julie with a BIG MOUTH! Our Haus who was out of Sara and Omar never passed on an opinion or comment. It’s sounding like Bronson will fill those paws no problem…

What??? Bronson doesn’t like water?
Then I take back what I said about Bronson obviously being Kayla’s brother!

Carole –

I do not think it is the water I think it was the soap. After all he loves to play in the water bucket at 11:00 PM and bites at the garden hose…

Bronson is definitely Kayla’s baby brother!
I’ve seen those expressions many times. Since he is the masculine version of Kayla, of course I’m going to tell you that he is a VERY handsome boy! 🙂

Gina, thank you for sharing.

Nikon says hi to his brother! He loves sticks too.

Bronson does remind me of pics of Kayla.

Liesje –

Hi Nikon is awesome! Wow what dirve!!! I have been enjoying watching him work and train! Question for you – how much harness work can one do with a puppy this age? I have not done portection work so I do not know what the protocols are for harness work. Thinking we might get Bronson into a class and looking for some responible mentorship here so we can benchmark what is available here training wise. We are starting some basic obedience now with him to affirm who’s on top…

Gina, not much is done at all. Well, some people interested in competition might do a little every day but I am of the opinion that the drive is either there or it’s not. We do it once a week or once every two weeks (at Julie’s training club). Each time the dog might get 3-4 turns and each turn lasts maybe 30 second max. My best advice would be to find a reputable club that is a member of some parent organization like WDA or USA. There are a lot of “clubs” out there that have the tough guy attitude and don’t understand the sport or the dogs or don’t have properly trained and certified helpers.

Like Carole said the harness is to keep the dog safe and comfortable. An agitation harness should have a chest pad. Some people will use a thick agitation collar. It’s personal preference and what the dog is comfortable with. Nikon doesn’t care about harnesses, and when watching some acquaintances’ club train I saw some young dogs get inadvertently snapped back on their necks so I decided against the collar for now.

Gina,

OK. Bronson is Kayla’s baby brother for sure. The playing in the water bucket seals the deal!

The harness is preferred so that there isn’t all that pressure on the throat. Julie can give you great advice on starting Bronson in training.
