Minimum age limits for the UKC Dog Sport titles:
- Family Obedience: 9 months
- Protection Alert : 12 months
- Protection 1 and higher titles: 18 months
Scoring of the Family Obedience Title
A. Comparing each performance to an ideal performance. Judges must evaluate each performance by a team to an ideal in which the dog performs precisely and willingly for a handler that is gentle and at ease. Lack of precision or signs of fear or unhappiness on the part of the dog must be penalized, as must harshness or roughness on the part of the handler.
B. Maximum points per class.
1. Family Obedience class. The following table contains the maximum number of points that may be earned in each category
a. Basic Obedience Exercises.
1. Reporting to the Judge, five (5) points;
2. Heeling on leash, twenty (20) points;
3. Sit Out of Motion, fifteen (15) points;
4. Down with Recall, twenty (20) points.
5. Long down (Honor) points, ten (10) points;
b. Practical Obedience Exercises.
1. Walking Through a Gate Exercise, ten (10) points;
2. Loading Into and Out of a Vehicle, twenty (10) points;
3. Food Preparation Exercise, ten (10) points.
c. Qualifying score. A dog earns a qualifying score in the family obedience class when it:
1. Earns a score of at least 49 points (70%) or greater in basic obedience, and
2. Earns a score of at least 21 points (70%) or greater in practical obedience. 2. Protection Alert class. The following table contains the maximum number of points that may be earned in each category:

Becky just try it! I’ve seen people show up that had no idea what it was, never even realized there was a heeling exercise they needed to know, and they still tried it!
