This coming Sunday, Jan 11th is the Spartan Mid-Winter Match. A match is run much like a “real” show but the wins count for nothing more then bragging rights. The real purpose of a match is to gain experience for all involved. The judges are not yet official judges but rather are want-to be judges. The dogs shown are most often puppies or young dogs, or dogs that need experience. It is also good practice for handlers and owners. The atmosphere is more relaxed then a real show and the entry fee is only a fraction of what you would pay at a regular show.

What is the date of this show?
Joe
Ok, I guess I should have read a little more carefully as the date is in the first sentence. First day back to work and I am going a little slow today…
So who’s going? Is this AKC or UKC?
It is AKC sanctioned. It is good practice no matter which venue you plan to show your dog in. I am planning on being there with Onion and thinking about maybe bringing Maika. Billie, Bailey, Nikon, and Schumi all need to go to get the ring experience.
See you there!
Pieka sends well wishes to Bailey and Nikon. Represent the litter well, kids!
This sounds like fun. What if you want to come just to watch – can you bring your dog even if you don’t want to enter him? do they ever have these events when the weather is nicer, like spring, summer or fall?
