Lin and I stood out in the pouring rain from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm waiting for Quenn to show up for his bite work test. We saw him walk by once with his owner. It appeared as if they were preparing to bring him to the protection ring…but we never saw him again. It was a huge disappointment to thousands of his admirers.

All year the big question was – will they show Quenn or not. Quenn had an outstanding progeny group in 2007 and 2008. A dog’s producing ability is taken into consideration in their VA placement and can not even be considered for a VA placement without presenting a progeny group.

What was the problem then? The issue was the judge of the 2008 Gebrauchshundklasse Ruden (Male Working class)was Reinhard Meyer. Herr Meyer was the judge in 2005 awarded Vegas du Haut Mansard Sieger of the Jugendklasse (winner of the 12 -18 month class in 2005. That same year Quenn vom Loher Weg was VA8. Quenn was VA6 in 2006 and Vice Sieger in 2007. Quenn was clearly established to take the title of VA1 for 2008. Except for that small matter of the judge had given this huge win to Vegas last time he judged the BSZS. Vegas was also a main contender for the Sieger position. My guess is that Quenn’s owner, Jani Uday, choose not to put the judge in that position to decide between Quenn and Vegas. But man that would have been a wild -crazy competition. Quenn definitely deserves to be the sieger and has already been vice-sieger. I guess being two times vice sieger was not what they wanted. I am hoping 2009 will be Quenn’s year he so deserves it.
