Funny started having a bloody discharge a week before her Jimmy puppies were due. So first thing Monday morning I brought her in for an ultrasound. There were 5 puppies, 4 vigorous pups and one dead puppy. Apparently from a detached placenta. We debated on taking the pups right away or trying to give the pups at least a few more days. We decided to leave the pups, I left Funny with Tiffany and Mos and went into work, came home, taught puppy class, got into the house at 10:30 pm and checked on Funny. I realized immediately the puppies were not moving. At this time I had no option but to wait until Tuesday morning. We had a sleepless night worrying about Funny and the puppies. I meet my vet at his clinic first thing Tuesday. We did another ultrasound and we were not finding any heartbeats, then maybe one but it was very slow and very weak. Funny was put under for a c-section. We pulled out dead puppy after another, and then one that showed a small sign of life and another. We brought home one live girl and one live boy. I didn’t trust myself to tube feed the puppies so Mos and I bottle fed them. Later we brought Funny home. She looked at the pups and then looked at me, then looked at the pups. It was clear she did not understand how they got here.
Funny is being a devoted mother. The puppies, although slightly premature, are strong, nursing with gusto, and getting bigger.
I am so grateful for the two beautiful puppies!
Oh Julie, we are so sorry to hear about the puppies. Thankfully Funny seems to be doing well. We are praying for you and Mos, Funny and the 2 pups. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you guys in anyway.

Julie-
I am sorry to hear about the puppies. I am glad Funny and the two pups are ok. I’ll be sending good thoughts and prayers to Funny and her pups.
Glad to hear Funny and the surviving puppies are OK and nursing on their own!
So happy that Funny is getting better and that some puppies survived. I know that it was difficult for you….and Funny too. Let the healing/ bonding begin….
Always love and prayers to you and your family both 2 and 4 footed, of course! I have a strong feeling that these 2 pups are going to grow into remarkably wonderful doggies. Funny is such a good momma.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. Funny is doing great and so are the two puppies!
