I figured our story could help someone else discouraged in raising a rescue dog. I rescued one of your 11mo old pups from Ed (name has been changed to protect the guilty) about a year and a half ago. We named him King. He had some behavior problems due to lack of socialization and leadership. My family was very determined to work with King. I am now happy to tell you he is a devoted wonderful part of our family!!!!!!! We love him!!!!!! My brother has a Westie. Previously King wanted to eat him and almost did!!!!!! But with leadership they became the best of friends!!!!! We all thank you for him!
Nancy and family
King is the one closest to the Sheltie and the Westie. By the way all the dogs in this picture are males.
That is a beautiful peacable kingdom! King looks very handsome. Is he one of Vida’s littermates? It sounds and certainly looks like he has a very loving home now but I thought all your dogs are supposed to come back to you if they need rehoming. I hope my question is not intrusive but the back story appears to be rather more interesting. “Ed” sounds like a breeder’s worst nightmare.
Unfortunately, if you breed dogs long enough, no matter how diligent you are with screening, an “Ed” pops into all our lives. Julie, you did the right thing encouraging Nancy and her family to work with King.
Nancy, all the credit goes to you and your family for having the patience and devotion to save this wonderful GSD.
The post seems to indicate that Julie did not even know there was a problem at all but all’s well that ends well!
