Wonderful photos, Julie! I know there is only one Sieger/siegerin at the show, but can there be more than one VA1, VA2 at each show? For example, could the judge find 6 dogs that he/she thought were almost equal to the sieger dog and give them all VA1 ratings? Or would that group be further broken down into VA1 through VA6?
Congratulations on your new position as official USA professional photographer of the world sieger shows! Outstanding job! I’m so proud and happy for you!!!

Julie—outstanding job with your gaiting photos. But photo #4 shows why you truly are The BEST!
Hi Margot. It was the first time EVER the USA was represented at the BSZS with a press person. It was really an honor and a pleasure. Carole also had a press pass but she held back and let me have all the fun.
The first VA dog is called the Seiger, the VA2 dog is the Vice-Seiger and then the judge can award a number of “VA” ratings to a number of other dogs, this year there was 11 VA dogs counting the Seiger and Vice Seiger. It is a huge honor. To be in the top 20 in any class is huge. There was one dog from the USA that went 17th in her class, it was a Hoss daughter owned by friends Cynthia and Jochen.
Holtkämper Hof is Jörg Niedergassel and Holkämper See is Hermann Niedergassel; Jörg and Hermann are either brothers or father and son, I do not remember the exact relationship. Plus I believe there is a third family member with the kennel name starting with Holtkämper.
They were the breeders of VA2 – Odin vom Holtkämper Hof, VA3- Negus vom Holtkämper See, and VA4- Ilbo vom Holtkämper See. All 3 VA at the 2008 BSZS. VA3- Negus vom Holtkämper See is owned by Kuniko Yamada from Japan.

Julie, Julie, Julie – I am honored to be a small part of your wonderful family of dogs and dog people … amazing photos, although not a surprise! I agree with Carole (not a surprise either :~) the fourth photo is incredible! You captured the personality of a true German Shepherd in this picture. Also, may I offer my BIG congratulations on your new position as official USA professional photographer of the world sieger shows, too! I have so much to learn about the dogs in this noble breed I love to share my life with and am humbled by your knowledge. Thank you for sharing!

Puke away, girlfriend, my statements were true! (And I’m not the only one who thinks so!) I love the other photos, too, and seeing the movement on Odin and the controlled intensity on the line up is great. I just really like the nobleness of Peik! Geez, the success of those two kennels is awe inspiring!

Oh Julie, put your glasses on! Photo #4 is outstanding. It not being busy has nothing to do with why I love this photo. Look at that tad of backlighting on the left ear and then follow the outline of the Peik’s head. Need I say more? (Besides, Judy almost made me puke too!)
Holtkamper Hof is a fine example of what I had mentioned before…it’s a family affair. Sure would be nice to see more of that in the US.

Judy you are going to make me puke! 🙂
I didn’t think the 4th photo was all that great. Maybe you and Carole like because it isn’t busy? I have a few I like better…
