Just a quick note on the BSZS in Aachen. The weather was cold and rainy, the dogs were beautiful, the quality was very deep. The crowd was subdued compared to past years. The bite work was disappointing. BSZS bitework is never overly impressive and because of the weather it was even less so. The arena were the protection testing took place was soaked, the rain alternated between heavy drizzle to downpour all day. The footing was very slippery and many dogs and some helpers fell. These conditions were factors in the mediocre performances in protection work.
This weekend is the Bundessiegerprüfung in Baunatal, Germany. This is where some impressive bitework will be seen. If I had planned better I should have stayed for this event also. It is normally held 2 weeks after the BSZS instead of a week like this year.
Kirschental had the Herding Sieger and Siegrin and their handsome Panjo was V4.
This was Carole’s first time to the BSZS and I hope she will share her experiences.
I had a great time and I am exhausted getting only hours of sleep….the bags under my puffy eyes had bags—the finishing touch was having my camera rammed into the bridge of my nose by a videographer. So now I am sporting a lovely gash on the bridge of my nose. With this and the two black eyes I have had this year maybe I should start telling people I am part time boxer?
As always I missed Tif and Mos while gone and of course the dogs, yes even surrounded by 3,000 other GSD. I especially hard to leave the Markus-Kira pups who are getting cuter and more delightful everyday. No worries on their care, Tiffany is an old pro at this and the babies were well-cared for and received lots of love and attention.
Markus was not shown this year, but will be next year. Naxos looked awesome and had an excellent progeny group. I will try breeding Maika to him again.
More later…
Julie, hi – welcome home :~) You, too, Carole!! Thanks for the report – go Kirschental! OUCH on your nose :~( I’m glad you were able to see Naxos again. BIG hugs to the babies – hard to believe they are four weeks old already .. thanks to Tiffany and Mos for their care. Carole, you’re on … tell us everything! Get some rest, if you can, Julie.
Julie’s second sentence sums it up quite accurately. I’ve been to many GSD Specialty Shows and have never seen such consistency as I had on Sunday…from the very beginning of the line on down to the end. That deep quality held for males and females and I know I’ve never said that before!
Yesterday I traveled for 17 hours, and 7 hours the day before. I got home last evening to see a very happy dog. We went for a long walk and then played for a few hours. I slept for 4 hours and then began working on the magazine & catalog. As soon as I’m caught up, I’ll give you more details.
You get some rest, too, Carole! I look forward to hearing all about it :~) Hugs all around ~ j.
