Schumi got to play in the pool today; this was his second time in the pool but the pictures didn’t turn out very well from the first time. I’m not sure if he likes the pool better than playing in the underground sprinklers, next time I think we will turn them on and let him run around in them and see what that is like.
He started out by biting and drinking the water from the hose; we had just returned from a walk and he doesn’t care much for getting hot in the sun.
After the pool was filled and the hose was off he was just splashing around and biting the waves. I’m not sure why Becky decided to enter the deadly confines of the pool; perhaps fishing for the dreaded dog fish?
Unfortunately this one got away to look for his next victim.
After swimming Schumi thought it would be fun to see if he could bother the entire neighborhood by squeaking the ball Grandma Julie gave him when he came home with us. I think his record is somewhere near 1000 squeaks in a half hour. Luckily he doesn’t bark much, so I don’t think the neighbors can complain.
Tonight during my hockey game one of my teammates’ girlfriend is bringing their 1 year old Austrailian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix to play with Schumi again. Last time they had a blast; so lucky for Becky and I we should have one tired puppy tonight.
Schumi, you are getting so big! German Shepherds are amazing water dogs – wait until you visit a big lake :~)
Photo #1—I recognize that wild-eyed look of a true water dog!
Becky, you are very brave entering dangerous waters!
Becky, you are braver than I for being in the pool at the same time as the teeth! Let us know when Schumi begins to loose his teeth, our vet said soon.:) Rudi had his pool time today, I promise to get photos next time. Joe, where did you find the really, really, long tug toy that keeps your fingers, hands and wrists at a safe distance??? We shouldn’t keep using the cats. 😉 Julie
Hi Julie
We got the long tug toy from Julie when we picked Schumi up. I’m not sure what it is called or who makes it but maybe she can give you some more information on it or send you one through the mail. Even though it is long Schumi thinks it is fun at times to grab right up by your hand.
