So I took Schumi (Funny and Jimmy pup) to the vet yesterday. His vet was gushing about how great his bone structure/body looked and how his personality was perfect (he ran up to anyone remotely close to him so that he could get some lovin’) Then I told her where we got him and she was like “you got a Mostosky puppy?!” and she was really excited. I just wanted to tell everyone that. 🙂 Also Joe and I are going to post lots of puppy pictures tonight. I tried to do it last night but couldn’t figure out how to make my pictures smaller…… so he is helping me tonight!
I try to warn everyone about Vet visits. We all expect when we bring our brand new beautiful puppy to the DVM for the first time that they will “gush” over our new baby. Rarely, like as in almost never, do they actually do that. I am not sure if that is the case with all puppies of any breed or just with GSDs? Anyway, I try to prepare new-puppy people not to expect their Vets to go ga-ga over their new baby. Rather to expect the opposite of gushing.
So congratulations to you on finding a really cool vet!!!
Maybe it’s a GSD thing. One of the vets at the hospital I use asked me about Chopper and her titles. Well one of her titles is the U-CH, to which the vet responded that “show dog German Shepherds are all nervy and fear-aggressive”. Riiiiiiight. Chopper is not a “show dog” and if you want to see some aggression, put down my dog in my face one more time….. Luckily, Chopper has never shown ANY form of aggression at the vet. Now I ask for a different vet when I go. He asked me where I got Chopper and smiled when I told him. Ha!
I’m sure your puppy is just adorable…be sure to send pictures as soon as you can so we can all gush!
I had a similar reaction when I took Jager to the vet the first time. She commented how beautiful he was and that dogs usually weren’t happy to see her like Jager was. I told her who my breeder was and she said Dr. Mostosky taught her in college, then told me Jager would be sure to have great hips!
Enjoy your new baby!!
