I have spent a lot of time with Oki in her last days and had not worked with Broker during that time. After Oki passed I mostly went out and took long walks with Broker.

Today I was so proud of Broker. A friend, Andrea had recently rescued a Labrador that someone had abandoned. She was having some trouble with him and asked if I could come over and help her with him. we decided to make it a dog day. I took Broker with me and I brought her in the house with no leash and she had her Lab on the leash. The Lab was straining at the end of the leash and barking at Broker. It was not nice barking. Broker didn’t care and behaved well. I had Broker lay down looking away from the Lab. It took about 5 min for the lab to calm down and start paying attention to Andrea.

When he was calm I told Andrea he could come and smell her with Broker in a down stay. Everything was good and Broker stayed when he came and smelled her. Then I told Andrea to walk a way and then we did repeated it with Broker in a sit stay, again the same good results. The next time we tried to let them meet with each dog standing, this didn’t go so well. The lab tried to pin Broker, but we didn’t give him a chance to. After that happened I told Andrea that she is going to walk the dogs outside, one on each side of her they can smell each other and have to pay attention to her. Broker did great for her, ignoring the Lab. It took a while for the lab to get the point. With some time he got it and we let them smell each other and they did great after that. Then we took a walk. After the walk we went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant and I took Broker. I tied her to a pole outside the restaurant in the shade and put her in a down-stay. We sat inside where we could see her. People would walk by. There was this one kid that ran or walked past her several times. workers from the restaurant were going outside to look at her, I think maybe talking to her too. She stayed at the down stay the entire time. I went out twice to give give her of pieces of my meal she still kept in her down-stay. I was so prod of her. She did not break her down-stay until I told her that she could. I was so proud of her I wanted to share it with you.

Hi Julie,
Your very welcome, thank you so much for giving me Broker she has come so far since I’ve gotten her, I love her to death and dont know what I would’ve done without her during Oki’s passing, she is such a joy to work with and to be around.
