Aslan and I took a short trip to northern Michigan to enjoy camping on Lake Michigan beach. It was the first time for Aslan to encounter waves due to the windy conditions. At first he seemed intimidated with the on coming waves, but after a while like most Alta Tollhouse GSDs, he could not get enough of it. I am blessed to have such a wonderful and well behaved GSD who kept me safe at night while I indulge in night time milky way photography. If you are interested, Aslan is on Instagram; to follow: @aslan.AT_GSD
Tips for this trip:
1. Bring a big enough tent for you and your GSD. Brings lots of towels and know that your tent will never be clean :-).
2. We chose camp site 9 because it was far enough from people that he was allowed off leash. I know he is supposed to be a on a 6 foot leash so I broke this rule 🙂
3. The balls/toys you may bring may be lost in the lake forever depending how strong the current is, so bring a life vest for your dog and make sure he has a good recall.
4. Bring lots of water.
5. Travel in the fall, less bugs, less people.
ENJOY!
Great photos Ed.
Aslan looks fantastic. What a lucky boy to have you as an owner and to go on all these exciting trips with you.
Thanks Lynda! wishing do more of these trips but this summer was too hot. Love the dock diving photos of Aiden. Did you have to train him to jump in?
This looks like my kind of weekend. Great pictures! We are headed out on Steves first camping trip.. Just a short overnight.
The other thing you need to add to your list is a hammock for Aslan!
Thank you! Yeh I want to see how he would handle a hammock. Will post that for sure!

OMG these are such beautiful photos. Lucky boy to get to go on all these trips!. Maybe he needs his own tent????
Yes he is spoiled! I don’t think he would do well in his own tent! I would suspect I would be returning it the next day to REI with a giant hole in it.
Beautiful photos! Great shot of the milky way!
Gorgeous photos, and Aslan sure is a beautiful boy. It looks like camping is right up there on the list of favorite things to do with dad:) I haven’t seen a sky like that since we moved from Colorado… wow, I forgot how much I missed that!
