The U-litter demanded I make a new post, they said “everyone thinks those little V-litter pups are so cute, we will show them cute!”
Here is the U-litter moved into their new living quarters and just beginning to eat real food, more like a goat’s milk slurry with canned tripe. Not seen in the picture are two small vary-kennels with the doors removed. These pups love to pile into them and sleep together, they have it all worked out three fit in the slightly bigger one and 2 in the cat size kennel. Around this time the pups started to experiment with their vocal cords and practiced barking and growling…they got better and better at it until they were making noise all the time. It was so cute at first…. now at age 35 days, the vocalizing has stopped and used only at appropriate times. It is all part of the process of becoming a puppy. The wiring in their brains is not fully connected, the theory is the wiring is complete at 49 days. I often wonder if that is accurate?
The following pictures were taken 8-days after the above photo at 33 days of age. Can you believe the difference? They are still in the I like to eat food and I like wear food stage….they are learning…their brains aren’t fully wired give them a break! There eating has progressed from slurry to yogurt to cottage cheese and now onto eating cut up salmon filet, cubed beef or lamb lung, chicken hearts. Today they cut some cubed beef heart, later I am gong to give them some meaty bones so they can start gnawing on them.
The pup taking the prime spot on Caitlin’s knee is the long-coat boy, he definitely thought he landed the best real-estate.

Cuteness overload for sure!
Oh my, I love these photos! I’m going to be coming back to see these a few more times. I can’t believe how much they changed in 8 days!
I have a question about ‘finding their voices’. Do you know if this varies by breed? Our GSDs have always known when to be vocal — and we’ve even accused Shotzie of being a bit mouthy — it is like she is talking to us. Our old Doberman was also vocal. However, our Golden Retriever just turned 2 years and it was on his birthday that he finally barked! He needs to work on it though, because it is quite high-pitched as this point. Similarly, our Lab was quiet until about age 2. So, I’m wondering, does this vary depending on what the dogs are bred to do, or is it an individual thing, or do I just have too much time to think about such things?
Great pictures! Lucky puppies 🙂
Can’t pick a favorite……..they are all so darned cute. Now they won’t need to be jealous of the V KIDS! 🙂
Secondary sex characteristics………easy to pick. w/o checkin’ out the bits.
