Injury Factor #1: (Long) Bone Development
The bones of your puppy’s skeleton form the joints, provide a framework for soft tissue attachment, protect vital organs w/in the ribcage & spinal column AND provide the site w/in the bone marrow where new blood cells are created for the rest of puppy’s life!
When injury happens at a developing, dynamic cellular level, the effects will be felt for a lifetime!
“OPN”, a key glycoprotein in bone formation and remodeling is at it’s highest concentration when puppies are 4.5 months old! This is when the body is at its peak in throwing down new bone cells, so an injury at this point will cause 3 crises: 1st – the interruption of new cell production / 2nd – this interruption will alter the symmetrical formation of bones on either side of a joint, which will then 3rd – off-set the balance of the body as the effected joint(s) cannot work in unison to create fluid movement.
How is bone development an injury factor?
