Today is Aiden’s 15 month birthday. He was entered in an AKC Sanctioned B Agility Match in RI. A match is different from a trial because you get to run a course with your dog but you don’t get judged. It is to give dogs ring experience and you can work on contacts, weaves etc in a trial type setting. Toys are allowed in the ring but not food. Aiden was entered one height lower than he will be required to jump so as not to put too much stress on his joints. The last time we were at this venue Dylan was entered and 3 month old Aiden joined us. At that time we were pleased at how well Aiden handled all the hustle and bustle of an agility trial. Even though he is now a goofy teenager his attitude was much the same as it was a year ago.
Since this is a match you can enter to run the same course up to 3 times. Each run is a maximum of 60 seconds and then you have to leave the course. This is a great opportunity to see where your dog is at in his training. In the following video all three runs are included. In the first run Aiden was quite distracted as this was all new to him and he had trouble with the chute. In the second run he had no trouble with the chute. Just before his third run a dog urinated on the chute so we decided to start with the dog walk. As Aiden started to go toward the tire jump he picked up the scent of male urine on the chute and went under the tire and over to the chute. After I was able to get him back on course he did pretty well. Great experience for a young dog.

After the match we took Aiden for a walk in the fields behind the trial site.

Oh my gosh, has it been a year already?! Aiden has accomplished so much in that time with you and Jack. What a nice boy. He is looking super.
Good job managing distractions in the ring!
I bet Aiden had a lot of fun! The pictures are great from then and now!
Aiden looks like he had a good time. He was a blast in the video. Adolescent puppy energy and enthusiasm-love it
Loved the video… Aiden looks like he’s having so much fun, but also acting like the goofy and funny puppy he still is.
Linda and Jack, you always amaze me with the accomplishments you achieve with your dogs… Very inspiring..
It’s so nice that they have the match for you to practice. Oh my goodness, there sure are a lot of things going on, loud noises, buzzers, dogs running in close proximity. The course is hard enough, but throw in everything else happening and boy does it become very challenging. I loved to see the progression of Aiden’s runs. You could see him figuring out the course with each run. He was so happy to be out there. The pictures in the field were beautiful. What a huge change in just 1 year!!!
Good job!! Aiden reminds me a lot of Maika.
What a great job he did!
Nice table!
You guys are well on your way! 🙂
Of course I must thank you for the retrospective photos…my favorite. 🙂
I will echo all the other comments super work on agility with a young male dog, really still a puppy.
This boy clearly loves to jump and does so effortlessly. Really fun to watch, thank you!
