I want to let you know how happy Veri and I are. We go hiking in Fairmount Park (see the picture above). She works as a therapy dog at a local hospital and has been invited to work with cancer patients as well. I don’t use a crate, she prefers to either stay in the garden or sleep on my bed. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for making me so happy with this wonderful dog.
Sincerely,
Beth
A little background info:
Veri or Veritas is from the Rocco x Cadence V-litter. She started life with Charlene, but it became clear that her career path was more along the lines of therapy work and not agility or schutzhund. Then along came Beth and we all said this sounds like the home for Veri. So to her new home in PA went Veri to live and Bailey took up residence with Charlene and everyone is happy! 🙂
I was wondering about Veri recently and was just going to ask Charlene to see how she was doing.
How great that such a good home came along for her. It looks like a perfect fit for both Beth and Veri.
So happy to hear that Vander’s sister is doing well! 🙂
All’s well that ends well. They both look tall and thin and lovely. Very elegant picture. 🙂
I agree Scarlett, they both are very elegant.
How wonderful is this news?!!
It takes a very strong heart to be a part of the therapy dog team. I applaud you for doing this work with Veri. These dogs have a gift, it’s not as easy as it looks. These dogs touches the hearts of the elderly, patients etc. like no other, no meds, no doctor can give them *that* joy.
When you are face to face with a patient who just gives your GSD a hug and cries, there are no words. These dogs can feel their pain to the core, they lend their shoulder for these strangers to cry on. They look at the patients with those assuring loving eyes, and when you have a GSD as a therapy dog, everybody wants to pet *that* dog. It is a big job for any dog, it’s even a bigger job for a GSD.
That is lovely! Thank you for sharing this, and for fulfilling Veri’s potential for therapy work.
I would still love to have Batman do therapy work, but am waiting for him to mature a little more.
Beautiful photo of Beth & Veri. I think all have found their proper place. It’s wonderful to hear that Veri is already doing such great work. Fairmount Park—gorgeous area. Years ago, we would trailer our horses there to ride on the park trails. It was a day after Thanksgiving tradition.
Veri looks Very happy and content at Beth’s side. Great that she must be a natural to be able to do TD work at such a young age.
