Yes, Morels, but too dry and cold here to find any yet! These look fine, but make sure you can tell them from false morels (can be hallucinogenic (or worse) for some people) if you’re going to eat them.

Yes yes!!! They’ll be sauteed and served over strip steaks 🙂 and yes, we checked, they’re not false morels. Dinner is at 7:30 if anyone wants to stop by!
My favorite way is lightly breaded, sauteed, and with a little bit of lemon. Hmm, it’s raining and supposed to warm up, the trillium are flowering, I guess I better get out a start looking.
Anyone going to tell us how to tell the real morels from the false?

False morels are spongey inside. True morels are hollow. I like the idea of feeding one to a friend, first! Garth, I like your method. Gotta go try to find more!
Morels!
😉
My guess too…beautiful looking!

Yuck fungus!!!!! I’m having beer, venison beef sticks and cheese, much easier to come by.
Lisa, that sounds good too! What time is dinner?
From 5 pm to 10:30 pm (or until 1 to many beers kicks in before then).
So how do you check if they are false morels? Feed one to a friend and wait and see?
Rita, I hate to be a nag—but….
You keep inviting us for dinner and I’ve yet to get the address! 🙂
