Let’s see if anyone knows what these are. They’re a special spring time treat and only available for a few weeks. Roman and I went to the park to forage for them today 🙂

Rock on, Lee!!! Ramps are correct!!! They have a great mild onion/garlic taste and are great sauteed with a little EVOO, salt and pepper. They grow in our area and now is the perfect time to pick them. We’ll have them tonight with chicken, pasta, white wine and butter sauce.
I have never tried them with pasta, I’ll give it a shot, thanks! I can usually find them this time of year in the woods that border the apple orchard behind my house.
I could not agree more with Julie. Bacon is, after all, one of the major food groups.

Bacon should be thee primary food group! I’ve even gone to the extent of getting pork belly and curing it. Chris puts it on the smoker and amazing home made bacon!! By the way, I don’t feed Roman ramps. He likes to dig holes next to where I’m digging. Come on by!!

Hello??? A little advanced notice would have been nice. You know that it will take a little longer for us FL folk to get there for dinner.

They do look like Lily of the Valley and if they are or are from that family, they are very poisonous to dogs. I know because I lost a beautiful GSD who had dug up and eaten just a bit of them. Get rid of them.
Daffodils are also poisonous as well as many bulb flowers. Check on all. I’ve cleaned out all in my enclosed yard.
All I know is that I pull those things up from my flowerbed. Are they weeds?

Ramps! They go great with everything, especially bacon!
RAMPS??? What is that – anything that is good with bacon I’m for!!!!
If it is seems to me they are poisonous to dogs.
Yep, I imagine they would be since they are in the onion family. They are also called wild leeks or spring onions.

Sounds great Rita! What time is dinner and what’s your address? I’m starving! 🙂
Kirsten stop by and pick me up on your way!
My guess would have been some kind of wild garlic.
Whoo-hoo!! Ramp party at Rita’s! Julie I’m on my way! 🙂
Carol, you have that backwards, bacon goes with everything.
