Here is something that makes you go…..Hmmmmmmm.   I’m glad I don’t eat rice everyday.

God help us if I dove into what is in OUR food! :-}

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

NOTE: 2/18/12: Fox News @ 9am: Dr. Mark Segal had a segment on Arsenic in Organic Rice Baby Food. In this interview Dr. Segal said that “Arsenic love rice” meaning that while rice is growing, the arsenic is absorbed into the plant. “Rice is grown in soil which can be contaminated more easily by arsenic.” Just an observation, but, what is happening to our dog’s if they are eating food with rice in it every day of their lives?

Per:
http://www.mde.state.md.us/programs/Marylander/PublicHealthHome/Documents/www.mde.state.md.us/assets/document/Factsheets/Arsenic_Health_Info.pdf

“Whether Arsenic enters the body by eating, drinking, inhalation through the lungs, or absorption through the skin, it is carried in the bloodstream to all parts of our bodies.  The liver converts absorbed Arsenic to less hazardous forms and the kidney’s then remove it in the urine. Most of the Arsenic is gone several days after exposure.  If greater amounts of Arsenic are absorbed than the body can detoxify and eliminate, the body can develop an increasing burden of Arsenic.  Chronic (long term) exposure to Arsenic  has been shown to increase the risk of cancer of the skin, lungs, urinary bladder, and possibly kidney, liver and prostrate.”

Just don’t tell me about McDonald’s double cheeseburgers and we’ll remain friends. 😉

No worries Girlfriend!
I’m pretty sure I heard somewhere that EVERYTHING in McDonald’s products are 100% ORGANIC and NOTHING is sourced from CHINA! ;-}

I eat brown rice just about everyday and have my whole life — it’s the grain of my people! I buy organic, but I’m not sure if that means anything, unless organic arsenic is somehow better for you than conventional arsenic. You know, my rice is sourced from China, but on purpose for once! LOL.

Sometimes I buy quinoa because it’s better for you, but it’s much more expensive and doesn’t taste as good as plain old rice.

First there would have to be arsenic in the soil, and second, arsenic is natural substance and maybe a little is not bad for you…maybe even good for you?

Since I had never heard of this before, I searched and found out a few of things about arsenic. 1. Arsenic occurs naturally in soil and minerals, 2. arsenic was previously used in pesticides for farming fields, and 3. “Arsenic cannot be destroyed in the environment. It can only change its form, or become attached to or separated from particles” (eco-usa.net). So, I guess, even organic fields, that have been “certified organic” 3 years prior to harvest, can still have a residual of it! WOW….between naturally occurring AND the overuse of arsenic in farming during the past fifty years, it’s a double whammy! VERY disturbing! Our own food is killing us!

I am not giving up my rice, I don’t care if it kills me. The rice I buy is from California. I don’t like brown rice, it’s just not the same.
