Do you remember last year when I sent you guys a list of “chicken jerky” type treats that came from China? FOX new just reported this (below) a little while ago! And can you BELIEVE the FDA will not name the brand or brands! I’m tellin ya! They are ALL in bed together. It makes me SO angry!!!!~That why Susan Thixton’s WE THE PET PEOPLE petition is SO important! It’s not looking like they are going to make the 25,000 signatures to send it to Washington. I’m really disappointed! fda site is below if you want to read it. This has been going on since the 2007 poisonings and STILL they won’t name the brands, and dogs are dying! Check out t he dates! If I find the brands in question I’ll send them to you. I know for sure that “DogsWell” “Happy Hips” treats/glucosamine/Chondroitin etc. are sourced AND manufactured in China.

FDA Cautions Consumers about Chicken Jerky Products for Dogs September 26, 2007

11/18/11: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is again cautioning consumers that chicken jerky products for dogs (also sold as chicken tenders, strips or treats) may be associated with illness in dogs. In the last 12 months, FDA has seen an increase in the number of complaints it received of dog illnesses associated with consumption of chicken jerky products imported from China. These complaints have been reported to FDA by dog owners and veterinarians.
FDA is advising consumers who choose to feed their dogs chicken jerky products to watch their dogs closely for any or all of the following signs that may occur within hours to days of feeding the products: decreased appetite; decreased activity; vomiting; diarrhea, sometimes with blood; increased water consumption and/or increased urination. If the dog shows any of these signs, stop feeding the chicken jerky product. Owners should consult their veterinarian if signs are severe or persist for more than 24 hours. Blood tests may indicate kidney failure (increased urea nitrogen and creatinine). Urine tests may indicate Fanconi syndrome (increased glucose). Although most dogs appear to recover, some reports to the FDA have involved dogs that have died.
We really should stop buying anything from China. just sayin.
Youa re right…and especially food items
I agree totally!
That particularly ticks me off about Dogswell. They put on SUCH a show about how healthy/safe their foods and treats are….yet they’re sourcing and producing in CHINA?!?
I tell you, it’s hard to trust any brand of food these days.
thanks.
