I’m not sure how many people on the blog are interested in motorcycles, but I know Jackie and Scott are, so I thought I’d share my weekend here.
I bought the 1300 Honda Fury when it was first launched in 2010 and loved it. As I got more comfortable riding it, I never went back to the 750 Shadow. The ride was perfect but it didn’t have that certain rumble I was looking for, hence my research into after market pipes. I chose the Cobra Speedster Swept chrome pipes, but of course had to go with a new Powerflo Intake and if you are going to do that, you should really add on the Fi2000 PowerPro Fuel Injection Tuner!
Neither Matt nor I are mechanically minded, but luckily a good friend of ours is, and he has a workshop area and all the trick gadgets to tinker on bikes, so this weekend he volunteered to put it all together for me.
Apologies for the photographs as they were taken on my little point and shoot, and the composition isn’t that great either, but you get the idea.
Carole, you’ll remember these are the friends you met at Skydive Deland.
The guy who knows what he is doing, and the assistant:
Laughing at Matt who never gets his fingers dirty. He’s looking really serious here though, so I think he’s showing Steve he’s willing to help him!
Mmmmm – maybe on second thoughts, I’ll just stand here and watch you two figure out the parts!
Getting closer to the end result.
Taking her off the lift.
Da dah! What a beauty, and she’s wicked fast too!
Wow Andrea, she’s a beauty! Where is the picture of that new helmut you were talking about? Matt cracks me up!
I’ll have to take a photo of the helmet and upload it for you Julie. That own I wear with the Suzuki 650 as it is more sporty. I wear a plain silver one when I ride the Fury.
Oh yes of course, you must be careful about these things or you will end up on an episode of Fashion Police! This reminds me of how Charlene picks out colors for each of her dogs and all the things for each dog coordinate.
Wow indeed! You are one brave woman!
Thanks for the compliment, but it’s not that scary once you know what you are doing. The problem is more with automobile drivers pulling out in front of you.
Exactly, that is what is so frightening, motorcyclists are so vulnerable.
That looks great Andrea! I have ridden motorcycles since I was a teenager. It’s only recently that I have been without one. I need to find one with a sidecar for my new pup and someplace that sells those WW2 leather flight caps and goggles for him.
I had wanted to ride since I was 13 but it wasn’t until about 10 years ago that I decided to take the Riders Edge course and get my endorsement. There’s no holding me back now!
Matt says he wants to get a side car for the same reason. He looked ino that crazy Ural, but there is no way any of our three would sit still long enough to be safe in a sidecar!
I got my first bike, a Yamaha 100, when gas was 23 cents a gallon.
What a Motorcycle Momma! You guys need to come down here for Bike Week or Biketoberfest. Your bike is awesome!
Steve’s visited those events, but even he says they are a little too much at times! I guess there are some really crazy sights!
Wow Andrea. Thanks for sharing the great story and pictures!! Now we’ve got to see you riding it. Does Matt ride a motorcycle also?
See you soon!
I’ll have to get Matt to try and take some shots of me riding the Fury.
Yes, Matt does ride. Currenlty he has a Honda 250 Enduro and an 1800 Goldwing. I’d just got my cycle endorsement when we met.
Looking forward to Saturday.
Andrea,
Awesome awesome bike.
Do consider visiting Florida for a ride, not necessarily for bike week. I agree, they are pretty crazy.
I own 2 Harley Softail Deluxe bikes and you’ll love riding the Sunshine Skyway bridge or A1A by the water. Florida is a perfect bike state. Now, if I was brave enough & could figure out how to ride the dogs on the bikes, wouldn’t that be a perfect combination?
Be safe!
Actually I believe the road you mentioned was the road Steve took me up on his Ultra Elecraglide CVO when I was there in April. We went from Winter Park north west to Daytona Beach, and on through the tunnel of trees to Bruce Rossmeyer’s. would that have been the road you mentioned? I did love that ride, you are right!
Andrea,
Yes, absolutely the one and the same road. It starts at Key West and ends shortly before Florida hits Georgia, and runs all along the Atlantic Ocean. It is definitely a blast to ride it on the bike with the wind in your face and water as far as the eye can see. Glad you got to enjoy it. Next time you are down here – holler!
