Today, I went to the North American Sieger Show at Lake Fairfax Park, in Reston, Virginia. In the show, people showed their dogs. It was only German Shepherds. After all of the shepherds were done, I participated in the Junior Handler Workshop.
Walter Kotters and Pat Kuehn were the instructors for the German Shepherd Dog Handlers Program.Walter is from Germany and Pat is from the United States.
For the workshop, I used Funny, Faye von Kirschental. Funny is Via’s grandmother and is eleven years old.

Funny is a veteran already so she knew what to do. When her owner, Julie Richards-Mostosky, walked out of the ring, Funny was lunging all over the place. After that, she was trying to go out of the ring every time we went around a corner.
Pat and Walter showed me how to stack a dog and how to hold the leash with some pressure. They also told us how to have spacing between each dog.
There were ten dogs and ten kids.We went around the ring three times, then they looked at the dogs and we did some other things and then we did three more laps. And it was so cold, I wore five shirts and was still cold!
We both had a blast at NASS!
Okay, the last picture is too cute and funny at the same time. Good job on handling Ms. Funny, you both look awesome in the field.
You did a great job too! The Kidlet came in 4th in the competition held right after the seminar, she was a natural when it came to moving Funny.
The Kidlet is an excellent handler! It is not easy to take a strange dog in the ring and do so well—especially with Momma Julie on the outside. Funny is definitely Momma Julie’s dog!
Hey kidlet, can you come down to Florida & give us some lessons? You look so perfect in these pictures… a total expert!
And, it is much warmer in Florida this time of year (smile)!
Great job! And I loved your post… very well written, with great pictures.
Way to go!!! I am very happy that you participated in this program. Awesome job!!!
Nice work Kidlet! Keep up the good work. You are our future handlers!!

Great story and pictures.
It was nice to meet you both, and Via, at NASS.
Very nice job in and out of the ring. I can see you inherited both mom’s dog sense and writing talent. I am glad we got to meet.
