ok, I admit it…she turned on her feminine charms. She gave the tester a kiss during the petting and brushing session of the test, but she didn’t jump phewww, and after that she was all business. Carole told me to tap my shoulder and remind her of her ball…that’s all I had to do!!! She went through the entire exercise focusing on me and doing whatever I asked… just “mom, where’s my ball…who cares about a croud of people, who cares about a noisy walker, greeting a stranger with a dog, foose, sit, down, here…whatever, but MOM, where’s my ball? Finally, it all came down to … “if you just sit there quietly with a stranger for 3 minutes while I leave the building and don’t throw a complete hissy fit like you did three weeks ago…I will give you your ball”…guess what? Not a peep, and now we have THAT Dog with THAT Ball….Alta-Tollhaus Prada, CGC aka Sydney:)
Awesome Great Job!! To me dogs are like kids, they will make a liar out of you alot, but then you also have those oh so PROUD moments
Good job Sydney and Barb!!!! Congratulations on your CGC title.
Congratulations Barb and Sydney. You two were poetry in motion. Sydney had such focus and she glided around the ring with style. Kissing the tester during the brushing portion was just priceless! A job well done.
Susan is right. It looked like two old pros out there! Syd was perfect with her heeling, could have cared less about the meet & greet of stranger with dog, and was not the least bit concerned when Barb left the building. EXCELLENT JOB!!
Congrats Sydney and Barb!!
Wow!!! Outstanding job you two!! She has CGC at 8 months, wow!
Way to go Barb and Syd!!!! CGC is pass or fail…but if you had been scored I think you would have CGC honors.
Huge congratulations, from someone who flunked the CGC with two different dogs on the first exercise–they both stood on their back feet to kiss the evaluator instead of remaining seated while the humans shook hands. After all, who was that human coming to greet anyway?
That was one of Barb’s concerns—that Syd would jump to greet the evaluator. Barb’s instructor was standing beside me, looked at me and went, “Whew!” We agreed that it is better to have a GSD that is too friendly than one who runs for the hills.
Way to go Syd and Barb!!!! Is this the AKC class for CGC w/the spoon? YOu should have had someone video, or don’t you know any good photographers :)!!!
The spatula-dog class was the class prior to the CGC class. Those instructors wanted her to repeat the spatula class. I said, Sydney didn’t need no stinkin’ spatula class again—go for it!
The CGC instructor was someone who actually had a nice personality. She was calm and not at all in a dither over that dog with that ball. She doesn’t quite fit in with most of the charming people that I’ve met there.
Speaking of charming people—I was standing outside with Robert & Syd when a lady walked by with a Smooth Coated Collie. I said hello and told her that the Smooth Coat is one of my favorite breeds after the GSD. She glared at me and with the most ugly expression said, “Do YOU have ANY EXPERIENCE with THESE dogs?!” So I said, “Yes, as the matter of fact, I do.” Now THAT lady fits right in with “the others.” Amazing…
I’m surprised you didn’t smack her face with a spatula Carole! What a B.
I will never forget the spatula dog.
