Roman clocked in at 104 lbs at the vet last week. I think this makes him an official BIG dog. I actually keep him on the thin side because he is so big. Roman is 2 yrs old and our vet said he’s got another year of maturing to do. Yikes! When we first visited Julie, I told her I wanted a big dog and she delivered. This is a shot of Roman “helping” me with the laundry.
He is like his momma, big and robust. Your vet is right he is still filling out and maturing. He takes his work very seriously!
Wowza! Nice boy! His half brother Nikon hovers at 70lbs (but I think it’s funny people often comment on how BIG he is in pics and guess he weighs about 90lbs).
Nikon’s sire is a small dog and Roman’s sire Gorbi was a big dog.
He is so handsome.
Rafe should visit–it would be his only chance to be a SMALL GSD. You have a very handsome laundry assistant!
It looks like another Ekko size GSD. Get used to the “wow, is he big” comment you’ll hear hundreds, – no -, thousands of times over the years. At that size they do demand respect; everybody, even our trainer, calls him either Mr. Ekko or Big Guy.

It’s pretty standard that peolple say “What a beautiful dog!” followed by “Wow, he is big!” Don’t tell anyone, but Roman’s best friend is a 6 lb chihuahua that lives down the street. It’s quite a site when they walk down the street, side by side 🙂
Maturing at 3 yrs old?- Uh Oh…took Koda to the vet yesterday and he weighed in at 56lbs. and he’s 4.5 months! Another mortgage for the food I guess.
@Alan I think that’s about where Roman was at that age…be prepared.
Roman had no choice but to grow into a big dog—look at the size of that laundry basket! Rita, for gosh’s sake, hire a housekeeper.
BTW, very smart chihuahua!
Oh come on Carole, you must know that when you have an A-T GSD you need a larger laundry basket for the extra laundry–muddy t-shirts, slobbered on and paw printed pants, snatched socks and undies that need to be relaundered—the list goes on.
LOL, and I thought this was only a phase…
That is the truth!! I’m forever washing sheets, blankets etc.. By the way, Carole, I did hire someone to help me out with some house work last year and when she showed up at the front door her first day she saw Roman and said “Oh my God, I’m going to die!! I can’t come in!!” She did and within a few weeks was sharing her lunches with Roman 🙂
