Sade has had the puppy zoomies all day. She has been a wild child, going, going all day long. She took a break to play with the hose. You can imagine what she does with her water bowl.

We are trying to have an agreement-leave the water bowl in the house alone, but you can do your playing in the ones on the porch and outside. It has been somewhat successful so far. The hose is a big hit at our house also, but the pool not so much.
It is slowly working, but I think that big sister Maggie has something to do with it. She is very clear on our house rules and will remind the little beasty when she is doing something not allowed (Thankyou very much Maggie). Left to her own devices I think Libby would do the same as Sade. Too bad the sisters aren’t closer so they could play together. Libby’ s new best friend is a 4yr old male GSD rescue and she adores him. He is very gentle when playing with her, so she can get some big dog experience. Most of her playmates are little lap dogs.
Sade does well with other dogs at training (we do choose carefully to make sure all encounters are positive) and she has brother Janni who is an 8 year old GSD who is very gentle with her but he is spending more time hanging out in out of the way places just shaking his head at her antics.
And ours sits on a large tray with a large towel next to it. No shower stall at our house but that is a good idea. I would try the bathtub but since she got a bath in there she jumps in the tub and barks at the spout hoping the water will turn on or someone will come turn it on.
I am thinking so as well. When Julie says they are thinking dogs, she leaves out that their minds are going 24 hours a day. They don’t see obstacles, they see invitations. Yesterday I stupidly thought I could leave her in the family room while I cleaned the living room so the monkey jumps on the sofa and then onto the table next to the sofa which she thinks is close enough from the gate between the two rooms to serve as a good launching point over the gate. Needless to say, I stopped her or she might well be joining big sis in physical theraphy.
Baby gates! Ha! We gave up on those when Via was about Sadie’s age. She would scramble over if the gate was secured to the wall. If not she would bang the gate until it started to fall and then ride the baby gate to the floor like a surf board. THEN she would drag the gate out of her way.
She had to be crated, tied to me or in her 4 foot high Xpen. The Xpen she learned to drag where she wanted it to go so she wasn’t in it much longer that she was behind a baby gate.
Libby ends up being backtied to door knobs or me. She has gotten much better lately and will lay on the kitchen floor to observe the goings on as long as she can see her people. As far as doing anything useful around the house, in the crate she goes.
Yes, she is either crated or within eyesight 24/7. She still only has two speeds, full throttle or off. If she is like my other shepherds, this will continue until sometime around 2.

Like sister like brother. Koda thinks his water bowl is a bathtub. And after he’s done “bathing” himself in it he feels the need to carry it around in his mouth like it’s a ham sandwich…nice to see he’s not alone.
Sade does this too and often with plenty of water still in it. Tried the stainless steel bucket but that just gives her more water to carry around and sprinkle throught he house. It is a good thing we did away with the carpeting this past winter or Stanley Steamer would be in the money.
I’ll take some this weekend and send them along. He’s growing like a weed and at last check weighed 45 lbs at last check. No kidding…45 (40 of it in ears!)
Julie and I are trying to work some magic and get them up but no luck yet- tape may be the answer. He is a big-boned son of a gun.
They were talking about ears in my OB class this week. They have been using breathe right nasal strips lenghtwise in the ear. The dog they were using them on had ears at 1/2 mast.
May be because he is such a big boy. My Ruffie’s ears didn’t stay up until he was just over 7 months and he had beautiful ears when they finally went up. I know Julie will not wait that long before interceding but don’t get discouraged yet.
I can’t see the video, I can’t watch it on my phone last night, I was looking forward to seeing the video today (at work). It’s just a black screen. 🙁 Can you post the direct link?

Irene, this is fantastic! Where on earth did you get that music?! It is awesome!!! For those viewing, turn up your volume.
OMG-too funny, I could not see the video til I came to work today, then saw Carole’s post-otherwise I would have missed the music. I think Libby and Sade could do a pas de deux with the hose they look so much alike and have the same mannerisms and expressions.
We have a squirrel water sprayer. I bought it at a garage sale and she spends hours barking at it and trying to get all of the water coming out of it properly bitten! Added bonus is it tires her out.

And how is that working so far? If it is a bowl or bucket or just a glass of water, Sade tries to just climb in and play.

I have TWO dogs bred by Julie. One is nearly 8 years old. Our water bowls have been in the shower stall that long. LOL.

I tink Sade is Via’s mini me!

Hey Alan, how about some pics of Koda??? How much does he weigh now? Libby is 34 lbs.

I found this address for the music-you can even get as a ringtone download: http://www.ez-tracks.com/getsong-songid-41223.html
An Australian friend emailed me this TV Ford ad with the song in it last year. It took a little work but I found the song.
Here is the ad:

It is for supervised play only as she would dismantle it!
