Sydney becomes a ROCK STAR!! Or, should I say Tracking Star?!
I told Barb to go lay her track while I helped Michelle with Grizzly. I turned around and found Barb and the END of her lead with Sydney making her own turn and on track. I said, “What are you doing?”ย Barb replies, “Tracking!”
Someone has obviously been working her dog!
Oh, and did I mention not just one turn but TWO?!!
Unbelievable! Way to go, Barb and Sydney!
On the last visit Syd had no interest in her ball, so that was Barb’s assignment. The dog is now obsessed with the ball. Great focus even with distraction. Barb takes Sydney to an AKC obedience class each week and asked me how to keep Syd focused in such confusion.ย Bring out the ball! The AKC folk might not be too happy with that idea, but I bet she will get results.
The Grizz Man is teething, so not too interested in ball work. However, he was more than happy to track.
Robert came to watch his baby girl work today. John had better be careful because he had his eye on Grizzly! I do have a photo of Robert walking with Grizzly. I didn’t want to post it though—can’t break John’s heart. ๐
Alta-Tollhaus Prada, aka Sydney.
Alta-Tollhaus Qantas, aka The Grizz Man. You might have noticed that we have another 24k Photographer. Thank you, Michelle—excellent photos!
OK, that’s it: I am trading Raj in on the new and improved model. He is almost ten months old, and I am still right there by his side on the track, ready to point at any second. What are turns? And end of the leash? We might be there next year. Now all I have to do is figure out how to stuff him into that little puppy crate and attach the “Return to Sender” label.
“He is almost ten months old, and I am still right there by his side on the track, ready to point at any second.”
As is the case with normal dogs. However, Barb & Sydney are Superstars. She has been laying a track for Syd early in the AM before breakfast!
…and Ivan is 17 months and I still have not found time to get him tracking !!!
Great work on the tracking Barb.
Both dogs look super in the pictures. They are really growing up.
Yay! I look forward to Carol’s weekend report, the Grizz looks almost as big as Sydney!
Love the updates! Way to go Barb & Sydney!!
omg Carole…time to fess up!!! Hint: John wasn’t at class so there might be some game going on here:) The dead giveaway for anyone who knows me is that life does not exist before coffee let alone breakfast!! Michelle has John been installing lights in the yard and tracking all night?
Both kids did really well with their tracking, but I wouldn’t be printing that label quite yet Ann, LOL.
It is true that the Griz is teething and was not interested in the ball this week, but his response looked exactly like Syd’s 3 weeks ago when she was cutting those big chompers….which btw she got me pretty good going after her ball when I didn’t quite manage the ball quite like our fearless leader aka Carole. Syd was all about her ball this week though, and it was so much fun watching Carole demonstrate how to use that in getting her focus. I was really proud of her work with the ball, now to just be able to do it myself, well that’s another story.
Barb, are you saying that I manufactured those photos? Great—now I’ve lost all credibility on this blog. Did I ever have credibility?
Michelle called. She said that the neighbors are complaining about stadium lighting glaring in their bedroom windows. Turn off the lights, John. Grizz & Syd are at the same tracking level. Sorry, I just couldn’t resist. ๐ In your defense, Robert said that we were very bad!
Both pups (and owners!) are fun to train. Barb, you can and do keep the focus. You just need to remember to keep your fingers out of the way when you drop the ball. ๐
I leave for one weekend, and the plots to tease me are hatched!!! Michelle told me both puppies did great with their tracking on Saturday morning, so I figured Carole was ribbing me a little bit ๐ Yeah, poor Grizz reminds Michelle and I of what Sydney was like 3 or 4 weeks ago — teeth everywhere around the house, half of everything he nibbles on has bloody marks, and big swollen gums…… I am open to suggestions on any tips for his mouth/gums — right now its ice and frozen wet tshirts knotted up…any other ideas?
I’ve heard that a good filet and a nice bottle of wine helps. Oh,wait—that’s for me! Ice and frozen wet things are good for him. It just takes a little time.
Frozen carrots helps too. Is Grizz eating normally?
The kid would eat an entire dining room chair if I let him! He is still eating all his food, maybe a little slower, and really takes his time with harder snacks (like carrots). He pretty much can’t eat bull sticks unless I soak an end for him to soften it up to get him started. Lucky for him, teething has not affected his ability to eat cheese which I’m convinced he’s addicted to. Carole said he should seek professional help for his addiction.
No—what I said was that YOU should seek professional help if you are soaking the boy’s Bully Sticks! ๐
He had no problem eating yesterday. Grizz found that ant-covered cheese is quite tasty.
Ouch Carole. Did my check not clear or something?? ๐
Odin is only eating at night this week, he refuses his breakfast and will only eat at dinner, I figured it’s the teething. He’s not touching his bully sticks either, he’s loving the hotdogs though. I refused to give him cheese, those are for me! You can’t have wine without cheese!
I haven’t been online for several days…so these tracking pix are not real???
