Yep—there I am. In the eye of a cat!

I went out to shoot some hummers and Scout decided to keep me company—after he rolled in the dirt.

These were shot earlier this morning, before the sun was up:
Scout – he has my pleasant personality, don’t you think?

Bambi – watching me take pictures of the cat. It was so dark in my neighbor’s field that I could barely see Bambi.

Love the clarity and focus. Any tips for a beginner? I have a t2i with stock and 50 mm lens.

I shoot with a Nikon, so I’m not too familiar with a Canon. Try this:

The best advice is to really get to know your camera. These guides can be quite helpful and are often better than the manual.

Move off of Program or Automatic and try out different settings to see where you get your sharpest pix. The more you shoot, the better you’ll get.

If you want excellent info that isn’t camera specific, you won’t find anyone better than Scott Kelby.

If your camera is heavy, purchase a good quality monopod.
Just keep taking pix—and then post them to the blog!

Carole’s right – it’s just practice, practice, practice. I decided to take a photography class so that I can actually have someone to ask specific questions. Books and manuals are one thing, but you run into so many situations which are specific to the shots you are taking at the time.

I still have problems getting the correct setting for my dark colored dogs running and jumping in the bright white snow. Dark dogs, speed of dogs and bright white snow…….???? Now that’s something I’ll be working on for a while to come, but hopefully not for at least nine months!

Super pictures Carole. I love “Scout”. He looks very grumpy in that picture…nothing like your personality!! …must have been too early for him to be awake!
