Nuke and I headed up to the Mission Mountains this weekend. I was hoping for clear skies so I could get the mountains with what was, on Sunday, a fresh beautiful coat of white snow, but alas it was not to be. We still had a good time, romping around in between snow showers waiting for blue skies. Nuke was REALLY EXCITED that it’s warm enough for him to splash around in puddles. I stopped in at a Mennonite general store and picked up what may be my new all-time favorite snack:
Dehydrated okra chips! All the crunch and flavor with none of the disgusting okra slime!
Hmmm, the mountains are beautiful, but they’re missing something….
There we go! Let’s zoom in, shall we?
Lest you think Nuke is always dignified, I call this one “herp derp derp!” Getting him to stand still and look at the camera is impossible.
Nuke’s favorite activity seemed to be spotting an offensive weed underneath the water…
Pulling it out of the mud…
…and then pouncing on it while airborne.
“Yeah, I’m pretty awesome.”
Living in big sky country is pretty neat, weather-wise. With mountains making their own weather whilst jutting up out of the plains, you can actually see the weather moving in.
What fun!!!! Now I am curious about this snack! Any more details on how to make it by chance?
Nuke look full of life, and is great looking to boot!
Karen you are asking the right person about how to cook/make something, Stacy is a culinary inspiration. I would like to get Stacy and Rita together and I want to be there to eat the results.
I would be more than willing to do some taste testing. ,you are no slouch when it comes to cooking ya know!!!
Karen, I think there should be a major taste-testing event. The contestants will be Rita, Stacy and Julie. You & I will be the judges! Al, you can be the tie-breaker!
My guess is that you just toss them in canola oil, sprinkle on some salt, and then stuff them in the dehydrator and let it run all day long. Those are the only ingredients. 🙂
Beuatiful pictures as usual. I love the action shots. Wow, Nuke has really grown!
Just gorgeous. Okra is just gross, I was forced fed that thing when I was kid, hated it. 😀
Nuke is so handsome!
No Okra slime, this sound too good to be true. I would have never ever have tried this, but I will know that it has your stamp of approval.
Nuke, has really grown up into a big masculine male. One of your photos reminds me of Lynda’s picture of Ivan, looking very much like a dolphin. The other picture with his head and the sky is like a picture the AKC Gazette commissioned for their cover commemorating the dogs that worked at ground zero….only your photo is better.
@Julie
Thanks very much Julie! We enjoy going out for photo ops. 🙂 We’ll be doing it even more now that most of the snow has melted! I am ready for backpacking season!
Stacy, your photos are just gorgeous. Would you please send some to me full-size in high resolution. If you people ever get something that looks like Spring, send those too! Just make sure that the Star is in the pix. 😉

Thanks Carole!
If you click a photo it takes you to the Flickr page. Over the top left corner you should see an “actions” button, which will allow you to “view all sizes.” Right click the size you want and download – voila! Full sizes of all pics are there.
We will indeed have spring in another month or so. 🙂 The grass will be green in May through mid-July! I have tiny buds on my lilacs right now.
@josiem
Okra certainly CAN be gross, but it has its moments if you prepare it certain ways. 🙂
That sounds like my kind of party!!!! Let’s do it!
@Al & Karen
Ok guys, I’m down with a cooking challenge, but it needs to be held in some exotic location a la Top Chef. Maybe Figi???
Count me in!
I’m game!
Seriously these pictures almost look fake! Both the scenery and dog are beautiful!
Absolutely delightful photographs – just perfect. The action shots are awesome!
I agree with Becky and Andrea’s comments. I always enjoy your posts!
