You’re right, Julie. She is a ham—she’s been “camera ready” since she was a pup. Kimberly has always called Kayla, The Lovely One. I think Kayla is living up to that name.
I’ve been admiring all of your latest posts with Kayla, Garbo and the birds and I’m wondering what lens have you been using with your camera? Did you use a tripod for the bird shots? Just wondering-Dale

Hi Dale,
I am using a Nikon DX 55-200 lens on a monopod. This lens is light enough to use hand-held but the monopod is my added insurance policy in case big bird gets too close. The Sandhill Crane had gotten so close to me that all that would fit in the viewfinder was its head. An almost 4′ tall bird with an 8-9″ bill became rather intimidating when it kept coming toward me. I shoot from a kneeling position and the bird didn’t stop until I stood up.
What a ham she is!!!!

She was a cover girl when she was a baby–why should anything change?
A beautiful girl!
