John put on his winter camo to take Nuke out this morning. Can you see him? 🙂

It was snowing last night when I took Nuke out, and it’s still snowing right now. Wooooo!!! You can check the Porch Weather Pumpkin for contrast between Thanksgiving and today:

I’ve changed my hiking plans and picked a more level trail for me and Nuke to go on today. And I’ll be taking a day pack with the ten essentials in case we get stuck overnight. It’s in the 30s though, which is SUCH a pleasant change!!!

LOLOLOLOL I love the highly sophisticated “porch weather pumpkin” everyone should have one!!!

The winter camo suit appears to be very affective. Are you still blaming this snow on me? Just wondering if I need to get nervous about weather karma…while I am wondering what are the “10 essentials” that will be included in the day pack? It was beautiful sunny day here in MI today.

I think I SHOULD blame this on you – we usually don’t get this much snow until January! But I love snow so it’s okay. Also it tires puppies out faster. 🙂

Nature out here will kill you without a second thought, so even on short day hikes I usually carry at least a small backpack with the ten essentials – basically a list of supplies to tide you over for up to a few days of being lost and stuck in the wilderness in freezing temps. It’s easy to wander off trail, fall through ice, or break limbs out here and usually it’s at least a day before search and rescue finds you. As long as you have all that stuff with you, you significantly increase your chances of surviving until you’re found.

my 10 essentials would be 1 water, 4 chocolate bars and 5 protein bars

I would give up two of your protein bars for directions to Starbucks.

Good grief, Stacy! Nuke will soon need snow shoes! Who carries Nuke’s ten-essentials pack?

My husband says “he’s got four-paw drive and a fur coat – what more does he need?” LOL. Actually I got him a blaze orange vest so no one mistakes him for a wolf or coyote but I forgot to bring it on today’s trip. 🙁 Don’t worry he could snuggle with me if we ended up out overnight!

Well he does look rather snuggly. Considering that your husband sings to this pup I am sure he’s be worried about him being too chilly on an overnight stay. 😉
