Wow, Carole. Those are really cool. I love how it captured the translucent quality to the smoke and fire. The colors are incredible.
And no worries…I grew up on a farm and am quite familiar with burn piles!

Wow — I don’t know… these photos might make me a firebug, well, at least a photo firebug. Okay, I’m not a photographer, so what is a dslr? I thought that was just someting about the ‘single lens reflex’… or something like that, until I saw the photos. But I don’t think that creates blue. I don’t get out much — but these photos are just awesome!
I might need to make a retraction. I wasn’t a firebug until I took these photos. Now I can’t wait for another burn pile to see what else I can do!
Laura, you are right—single lens reflex, only this is the digital version. I don’t get out much either. That is why I’m taking pix of the burn pile! Thank you for the compliments.
I’m glad everyone has enjoyed the burn pile—something a little different. Julie, I had to darken the photos some. I think the sensor picked up on the hot white logs. Next time I want to increase my shutter speed. These were taken @ 1/320 or 1/400 f/8 with ISO 320. My camera seems to like ISO 320.

Who would ever thing of taking pix of a burn pile? Super cool! What kind of post production did you do?
